Long Shot is pretty funny, but Hollywood needs to put a stop to making comedies that are 2 hours or longer.

PJ Soles in Rock n Roll High School is the best
The live set at the end of that movie is filmed so awesomely. Insane energy.

I admittedly have fatigue of Seth Rogen's comedies
Thoughts on Angelica Houston regarding her recent comments?

I'm torn between Blue or Red, but White is easily the lesser of the three.

If you want another laughably bad action thriller, might I suggest Blown Away (1994), starring Tommy Lee Jones, Jeff Bridges and their atrocious Irish and Boston accents respectively.

Her Smell succeeded in giving me mad anxiety. Some of the confrontational scenes in the first half does get tedious, but Elisabeth Moss kills it. Probably being in Scientology brought that performance out of her.

What can you LA people tell me about the Walk of Fame Hostel in Hollywood, if anything?

Watched Eyes Wide Shut again recently while in a hotel. I consider it a masterpiece. Kubrick's use of huge open spaces to create a certain atmosphere works amazing here. The whole thing has a dream like quality. One of his best imo. His filmography is pretty much flawless since '56, although i haven't seen Lolita.
Also watched Possum again. Psychological horror film that has elements of Lynch, Cronenberg, Brothers Quay and the early silent German films. Written and directed by Matthew Holness of Darkplace. But there's absolutely no humor here, just bleakness. Main character carries around a nightmare of a puppet (in a duffel bag) that's basically an eyeless death's head with huge spider legs hanging off of it. It's supposed to represent his abusive childhood and every time he tries to get rid of it, it comes back, usually next to him in bed. Some creepy scenes where the puppet seems to be alive, although it's all in the character's mind. There's also the dilapidated house and father he lives in/with, and a story of kids going missing. It's a fucked up movie to say the least. Gonna watch it again soon. So highly recommended if you're into disturbing shit. Pretty much my new favorite current horror film.

Not only do I catch new things each viewing, but I also find certain scenes/dialogue land differently as I get older. What a hell of a way to go out, Kubrick. It might just be my no. 2 right behind 2001. I too have yet to see Lolita

Saw EWS in a theater over Xmas last year and it was pretty much the best time I've ever had with it. The last line really, really landed with me this time around and sent me out with chills.

Tolkien is really good and I'd recommend it to anyone that has even a passing interest in the man

it has a 49% on RT which, after seeing it, is kinda baffling
most of the complaints seem to be that the movie is too restrained and lowkey
which is exactly why I think it's so great
grandiose biopics are typically the worst biopics

Might see Tolkien when I have some free time. And that It chapter two trailer is backed and worth the wait. Glad that they showed one scene & some clips instead of giving away the plot like most do. Plus that part in the book is some wild stuff so I’m stoked that’s in there

bravecaptain, Ian McFly, and I saw The New York Ripper on the big screen. I remembered not liking it much when I first saw it, but I had fun watching it this time around.

I'm excited to check out the blu ray remaster when it comes out. I wasn't enamored with it the first time I saw it either, but it's grown on me in all its mean-spirited excess.

Started watching Godard's Oh Woe Is Me and it's beautifully made and totally not what I needed on a lazy Sunday afternoon so I bailed.
Seeing Amazing Grace tonight. Hope it's good.

Watched Serenity and Dragged Across Concrete yesterday. Serenity was even worse than anticipated. Truly one of he worst films of the decade. Just a failure on every level, and not just talking about execution. I have no idea how the talent assembled sighned on after hearing the concept or even a page of script.
Dragged Across Concrete I'd rank lower than Bone Tomahawk and Brawl. But still good. The pacing reminded me of Tarantino some. But director should start working with a new cinematographer or something. This movie cost 15 million. His budgets are getting bigger, but often everything looks too bland or too one note.

But director should start working with a new cinematographer or something. And a new editor for sure. It's also my least favorite of the trilogy so far. Even though the other 2 movies were over-long as well, at least they kept my interest the entire time.
