Please god no more Batmen and no more Spidermen for at least a decade Comic to film films have become the most lazy shit. Just lift a story arc and throw some CGI at it and youre done.

I can back him being cast as Batman, he's been redeeming himself with his past several movies. He just gotta bulk up a bit, but I'm sure he will do.
But yeah, I got superhero movie fatigue at this point. Thanks MCU.

John Wick 3 is incredible. It really raises the bar. Story kicks as much ass as the actual ass kicking, and it is the best yet.

300, Sin City and Watchmen were all pretty much lifted word for word from the comics and some scenes are basically reproductions of the panels. Super man returns and xmen films are pretty close, not 100 percent but close.

I'm not fatigued by all comic book movies, just its time for new characters, both MCU and DC - I really liked Aquaman. But leave the Supermen, Bats and Spiders alone. It's time for a MCU Fantastic 4 and X-Men, and I'm excited for Black Widow movie and WW 1984

Just watched Southern Comfort (1981). Directed by Walter Hill who directed some classics in the '70s like Hard Times with Charles Bronson, The Warriors, and The Driver with Ryan O'Neal and Bruce Dern. Southern Comfort feels like a '70s movie as well, with some staples of that era like Keith Carradine, Powers Boothe and Fred Ward. It's about a team of National Guards who are on a military exercise in the deep south and are hunted down by a group of angry hillbillies when they fuck with one of the locals. They slowly start to go insane or killed off as they search for the highway out. It's kinda like Deer Hunter meets Deliverance. Great stuff. It's on Prime. Watched this yesterday because if I trust nothing else, it's your take on 1970s (or 70s-adjacent) movies, and was not disappointed. Killer finish, too, as things got manic and the walls started mentally closing in for those dudes. Also watched Soylent Green, and that was goddamn fantastic. Heston and Edward G. Robinson were incredibly good together, and you could taste the veneer of filth in NYC through your teeth as you watch.

That's what they're saying this Bat-Cullen movie is like. I'm stoked for Rob since he's shed the whole Twilight connection with these indie films and if this is more of a detective movie, he'll do it justice
The local theater did a showing of The Mummy 99 for it's 20th anniversary. CGI is terribly outdated for decomposing Imhotep but still fun. memes aside, it's Brendan Fraser's best movie and it sucks that he got blacklisted from Hollywood/taken to the cleaner's by his ex wife. Rachel Weisz is a booyah hottie too

Mummy '99 is a legit classic
Also Southern Comfort rules. Hill is the best. Pretty sure the blu ray is on sale right now at Shout! Factory

It amazes me that Hill made The Warriors between The Driver and Southern Comfort. It's such a next-level film in terms of choreographed fight scenes, the use of locations, the cinematography etc. It's so unlike anything he ever did prior or since. Like he was destined for greatness instead of going on to churn out buddy cop films and other dopey comedies. It's just a money machine right now and will never end. They will eventually go the way of the western Since Disney bought Marvel i doubt that. I don't mind comics being adapted for the screen, i just wish they didn't have to ALL be superhero comics. There are so many interesting comics and graphic novels that would make great (with the right director) movies. Burns' "Black Hole", Clowes' "Like a Velvet Glove", Johnson's "Incognegro", Corben's Bloodstar", Jon J Muth's "Moonshadow" etc . etc. I'm especially surprised no studio ever grabbed the rights to Black Hole as it's probably the biggest selling non-superhero comic ever.

I would love to see a Black Hole movie. I remember David Fincher was supposed to do one at one point, but that didn't work out.

I remember some film student made a sizzle reel where they filmed a couple scenes from Black Hole, it actually looked promising, but I'm sure it had something to do with getting the rights for it.

I keep laughing about this since reading The Black Dahlia. In the afterword, James Ellroy drippinis a ton of crazy praise on Brian De Palma: He then goes on to praise all of the actors. I didn't recall the film being very well received, so I was looking at the wiki and found this:
In conclusion, James Ellroy is an actual crazy person.

Watched a couple really good movies on Prime over the past couple days. Love discovering stuff like this i never even knew about.
The Klansman (1974) Lee Marvin plays a sheriff in a small town in the South. OJ Simpson plays a vigilante who kills klansmen at rallies with a shotgun. The plot is about a black guy wrongly accused of rape and the racial tension that grows as outsiders come in to investigate. Kinda like Mississippi Burning. Great ending with extended action scenes. Solid.
The Domino Principal (1977) Gene Hackman plays an inmate who gets released on the condition he'll assassinate someone for a shady Gov. organization. Hackman is excellent as always. I have yet to see him in a bad role.
Also watched the Susperia remake. Thought it was awful. All the tongue in cheek campiness, cool Argento colors/lighting, Goblin soundtrack etc. that made the original so unique and fun is missing here, and all that's left is a mess.
