Yo, I started a new Twitter that I think people here would be into. It's called @funwithcaptions and it is what it sounds like. I watch literally everything with subtitles so I come across a lot of things that are A) Even funnier on a screen than they'd be just spoken or B) A noise/sound effect that ends up being hilarious when dictated on screen. So it's just gonna be screencaps of that stuff, nothing else. Give it a follow if you're so inclined.
Also, came across a new app last night. PlutoTV. There is a treasure trove of wild stuff on there. Similar to Tubi TV, but I think a much better selection, especially w/ 70s-80s stuff. It's in the Xbox marketplace and I'd assume you can get it w/ PlayStation or any Smart TV too.

When I first watched the original Wicker Man, I really related to the cop the entire time and when I told my friend that, he was like "what is wrong with you?" I guess you're supposed to be sympathetic to the fucking freak island perverts? Whatever, still a good movie.
Speaking of Nicolas Cage I just recently watched Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans and what an absolute ride that film is. The lizard cam angles are pure genius. Seriously one of the funnest movies I've ever seen.

Color Out Of Space was fantastic and made me want to rewatch From Beyond immediately. Apparently this is the first in a trilogy that Stanley plans to direct, the second of which will be The Dunwich Horror... fuck, I hope that happens. I’m honestly shocked this movie hasn’t gotten more chatter, one of the best moviegoing experiences of the year for this muchacho. All hail Nic Cage. i watched it the other night and loved it.

It only played in theaters for one night in Richmond and it was when I had to play a show. I'm so bummed, it seems like a movie best to see on the big screen

Just looked and it's not playing around here.
We do have two indie theatres though so hopefully it'll turn up sometime in the next few weeks.

Re-watched Hardware in anticipation of Color Out of Space, and it's insane that that movie cost less than a million to make. Such great world-building.

There’s a nice DVD screener of 1917 floating around torrent sites if anyone is interested.

1917 was cool. Cinematography was excellent. Acting was good. Felt a bit like a video game at times but overall really enjoyable and probably best on the big screen. Not mindblowingly amazing but still give it 4 out of 5 potatoes.

Recent watches
James and the Giant Peace - Still love everything about this movie. Haven’t seen it in 15 years, but was every bit as enjoyable.
Uncut Gems - Awesome time at the theater. Endlessly suspenseful. Called that ending as things were unfolding. But, yeah, loved it.
Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead - Been a long time on this one, too. Uncut Gems made me think of it. Still rules. And Marisa Tomei, lord have mercy.
ZombieLand 2 - Mindless good fun. Meta as hell, but similarly to 22 Jump Street, I appreciated it.

Zero. Desire. edit: All I’ve gotten ad-wise as of late is The Gentlemen and Bloomberg and I absolutely could not give less of a shit about either.

Color out of space fucking ruled. Saw it at packed old fashioned theater by my best friends house and we were digging it. Just a solid take on Lovecraft

The Gentlemen was great and fun. I get that these are all supposed to be bad dudes and maybe this is political correctness gone mad but using sexual assault as both a comedic gag and to be risqué seemed like a bad look for 2020. Guess I’m just a soy boi beta cuck or something thoug.

The Gentlemen ruled. The script is better than half of the ones that are Oscar nominated. Sure it belongs in dorm room in 2002 alongside a Scarface poster but I’m counting that as a good thing. Shits good.
