Just watched The Lighthouse and thought it was amazing. I noticed a scene in the trailer that showed tentacles (i'm guessing from an octopus), but didn't see that scene in the movie. Did i miss a scene?

The Gentlemen was great and fun. I get that these are all supposed to be bad muchachos and maybe this is political correctness gone mad but using sexual assault as both a comedic gag and to be risqué seemed like a bad look for 2020. Guess I’m just a soy boi beta cuck or something thoug. I didn’t see that scene being made for any comedy whatsoever.

Did i miss a scene? It’s Short and quick , about the same shot in trailer... when Pattinson is briefly spying on Dafoe if I remember correctly.

Referencing when the Guy Richie stand in tells Jax Teller he’s gonna hop in bed with him after multiple rebuffs and when Collin Ferrel and his merry band of Chavs (I’m using that right) drug a dude and make him fuck a pig. The rival gangster trying to rape a guy’s wife as revenge is just risqué icing on the cake.

Was kinda sleepy the first time around. Loved all the Lovecraft and Poe vibes throughout the film, plus the whole thing was cinematic eye-candy. Robert Eggers is already a master of his art with only two films under his belt. I've always been drawn to bleak, ominous movies that have that overall feeling of dread right from the first scenes, probably ever since i saw Alien in '79 as a little kid. The score was excellent as well. Hopefully he follows the dark path he seems to be on.

Dafoe is at the top of the lighthouse jacking off, and Pattinson is spying on him and you see dripping tentacles. Such a fucked and amazing movie.

I watched Parasite the other night and it was just as good as i had hoped it would be. Kang-Ho Song is such an incredible actor.

Had a viewing party for Color Out of Space last night and I'm not sure if it was good but we definitely weren't bored. Seeing Cage go full Trump for like 20 minutes was quite the spectacle.

The first half is thrilling as hell, very witchy. then mileage varies on how much one is into Lovecraft. Definitely wasn’t bored, as you said.

Color out of space was...not Mandy. Agree with y’all that I wasn’t bored. Nic Cage was doing his character from a Dracula’s Kiss when he was losing it and that was hilarious
1917 was good
VHYES was a waste of time

Volume 2 of Too Many Movies starts tomorrow (tonight?) this volume is centered around Brendan Gleeson and some of his filmography. First episode is Six Shooter and In Bruges...I think this volume is pretty good, actually toomanymovies.buzzsprout.com/

Zero. Desire. edit: All I’ve gotten ad-wise as of late is The Gentlemen and Bloomberg and I absolutely could not give less of a shit about either. I liked The Gentlemen! it's as silly as you'd expect with big laughs

I finally got around to catching Uncut Gems. I loved it, but I think I enjoyed Good Time a tad bit more.

I watched Just Mercy last night and it was good if you want to watch some great performances in a late 90s style A Time To Kill-redemption type lawyer movie.

I'll probably see it when it hits the Redbox.

Speaking of Come And See, if you're in the NYC area next month, Film Forum will be showing the new 2k restoration of the film for a week. I would go multiple times if I didn't think it'd have a negative effect on my mental health. Info for those interested!: filmforum.org/film/elem-klimovs-come-and-see

There's a subreddit dedicated to finding and decoding hidden messages in Under the Silver Lake. The two stickied threads at the top connect the movies hidden messages to the sex cult NXIVM, Pagan / Lucifer/ Moloch worshippers at a winery in the bay area CA owned by a Rothschild. I'm super intrigued by what the hell may be going on there. If you're into conspiracies, check it out. www.reddit.com/r/underthesilverlake/

Watched some things over the weekend:
Murder by Death - Terrific whodunnit, a lot funnier than I thought it'd be going in and they made great use of Truman Capote.
The Parallax View - The kind of movie I wish still got made today. Real taut political thriller with some unique and memorable shots.
Hardware - Weird in the best ways. The grimy dystopia it was set in was very Fallout New Vegas.
Crawl - Just a fun movie. CGI was better than I assumed it'd be and they did a good job building tension. If you want a quick B-movie to watch you could do so much worse.

Parasite comes out today on blu ray, too bad I have to take my cat to the vet so I wont get to pick it up til tomorrow. Been itching to watch it again, I really wish it was in theaters a little longer so I could've squeezed in a second viewing.

They are screening a black and white version of Parasite this Friday and I'm bummed that I can't go. Hoping for some encore screenings.
