I know Kubrick has a lot of great films, but how Dr Strangelove isn’t anyone else’s favorite on here is crazy to me. To each their own, though. For what it’s worth, I am partial to war movies, especially Vietnam and Cold War era. peter sellers was a true fuckin genius

My local movie theater is doing theater rentals for groups of 10 for $100/ hr (so roughly $20 per person for a 2 hour movie). You can pick pretty much any movie you want. It’s a 50ft curved screen. Trying to get a group together. What movie would y’all wanna see if you were able to do this? something classic that none of you have seen on the big screen. I wen't to Raiders of the Lost Ark on one of those fathom events with a bunch of friends and we had a blast. also took a couple of buddies to see The Seven Samurai at the AFI theater in MD. great experience as well. Casablanca at the New Bev was awesome. I wen't in blind with some popcorn and saw a classic like it was opening day.

Watched Unforgiven last night for Western Wednesday. My fiance was not into it at all, but I loved it. Tonight for horror movie thursday we are watching Martyrs. I've only seen one other French extremist flick, so I'm a bit nervous haha

I haven’t seen the newest Blade Runner yet, I feel like that would be a good one to see on a giant screen, but it’s not really a classic either.

I missed when Jurassic park came back in theaters a couple years ago, that would’ve been cool.

Jackie Chan's POLICE STORY, damn, how did I sleep on this? Having seen The Raid movies/The Night Comes For Us/etc it's wild to see how much of that hyper-violent, quick-twitch style came from this movie. Absolutely awesome.

I wanna see spinal tap in a theater. Saw this at that same theater a couple of years ago, it was a song along edition, which is normally fucking dumb, but ruled in this case.

Is this a theater where they have proper prints (digital or film) or are they popping in a DVD and projecting that onto the screen?

Is this a theater where they have proper prints (digital or film) or are they popping in a DVD and projecting that onto the screen? Most theaters nowadays are fully digital and just play a file. Some have some sort of Netflix for theaters subscription where they can pick off huge lists of movies.

I’m not sure what level quality digital projector they have, but they also have a 70mm projector and a 35mm projector. These obviously wouldn’t be options for this particular deal, but the digital projections I’ve seen there are as good as any other theater.

I only asked cause a curved screen was mentioned, this a Cinerama theater? I don’t know if it was technically cinerama, the curve isn’t super noticeable like it is in the cinerama theaters I’ve been too. But it’s 22x55’ screen originally built in 1969 for 70mm.

Honestly Bullit or The French Connection would be absolutely awesome on big screens for their respective chases.

Theres a place close to my house that has a wurlitzer that they play along to old films. Its actually really incredible to see how they play & trying to catch the visual cues.
They also do like 3 stoodges marathons and shit. Its awesome
