I can see why a studio would (needlessly) make a prequel to The Omen. I’m amazed they would give it the budget they did, and let the creative team go as wild as they did. Pretty good movie. No surprises, really. But good atmosphere, good performances, some truly inspired dumb bullshit like the pussy claw. Very limited commercial appeal as the IP matters little to almost anyone and the final product ain’t for normies. God bless them.

Caught Furiosa last night. It was okay. Best way I can describe my take, is that if Fury Road was to Tremors, Furiosa was like Tremors 3: Back to Perfection. It was like George Miller wen't into outlining the script saying "yeah, but what if they can fly?!" And that was the only premise he had

Everybody Wants Some rules. Always felt like it was memory-holed by a lot of people even fans of Linklater.

Can’t wait for Longlegs. Gonna get rave reviews and a D cinemascore. Reminds of seeing The Witch, which ended with audible crowd laughter at seeing such a stupid fucking waste of time movie. Anyway, Oz Perkins has been signing on to more stuff and seems to have momentum from this movie. Blackcoat’s Daughter was good. Gretel and Hansel was pretty good but certainly suffered from ponderous pacing. Likely a real boon getting Nic Cage for Longlegs, as that draws press eyeballs alone as long as he acts like a weirdo.

The Villainess was quite good. Korean Revenge flick for the win. Is it me or are Korean movies depressing as all hell?

Cuz I’m thinking hard about this—have I only seen horror, thrillers, dark dramas, and crime movies? Assuming they make lighter fare, maybe it just doesn’t play to a western audience or get distribution?

Watched EWS over the weekend and it was great. I should have known at the start it was the unofficial sequel to Dazed and Confused, it would've clicked so much quicker.
Should probably rewatch Dazed and then give EWS a second watch immediately after. Understanding the characters at the onset of the movie would give such a better understanding of what was happening. Also, I'd venture to say that EWS is probably a better movie that Dazed, but I don't want to make the claim without watching both more thoroughly. It's a bummer because both benefit from repeated viewing, but there's no way EWS will become the same iconic cult classic because Dazed was constantly on Comedy Central in the late 90s/early 00s.

Auto Focus as part of the schrader collection on CC- Great look at how someone falls into degeneracy with a solid Greg Kinnear performance and Willem being Willem. Maria Bello as his second wife goddamn. I will say the last half hour kind of slogged for me and being tired already didnt help.
Also watched Godzilla Minus One. I cant add anything to what was already said but it was perfect

Sorry, the conversation moved on from a couple pages ago -- Everybody Wants Some!!
However a back-to-back analysis of Dazed & Confused and Eyes Wide Shut would be amazing.

Hit Man was sick.
Yuma County is fun and Jim C remains the best
I Saw the TV Glow licks the toilet bowl
Graduation Day (1981) was more fun the first time I watched it but its still aight
Dream Scenario was unfortunately a let down for me in terms of a movie but Cage was good of course

Heaven’s Gate was pretty good. Dunno if I’ve ever seen a movie with a director less interested in progressing the narrative. In terms of epics, it’s like the anti-Oppenheimer. If that was told in montage, each scene in this one was like slowly extracting a boulder. Most of the scenes could’ve been shortened considerably. But my word, movies don’t do scale like that anymore. It must have been such a pain in the ass to make.
