I think 'Twisters' will determine whether Glen Powell has it or not. Obviously 'Top Gun: Maverick' was a haymaker of greatness but you had Tom Cruise in the driver's seat. (Or I guess... cockpit...)
Can Powell be a part of the next generation of Movie Stars? Is the Movie Star an archaic idea?
I just saw that Lee Isaac Chung directed 'Twisters', who you may be familiar with because he directed 'Minari'. I'm officially *excited* to twist.

Speaking of gates, and those of the star variety, I got an intense hair up my ass to watch Captain Ron. Purchased it on Prime because, fuck if, that’s a quintessential comfort blanket watch, and it’s still as great as it’s always been.

I think the casting for this is solid. Trailers look good enough. Hoping it’s a great time because I need my MCM in more stuff.

It's just wild that the director of Minari decided his follow-up is a standalone sequel to Twister

It's just wild that the director of Minari decided his follow-up is a standalone sequel to Twister I mean, he probably didn’t envision it as his next project. But he got offered cuz studios love getting acclaimed indie directors on their big IPs. And he probably figures, like many indie directors before him, this either cements me as a big timer or if it’s a bust I can go back to smaller stuff.

Hopefully there's tons of Mountain Dew product placement in it.

Helen Hunt’s face is so fucked now from some unholy combo of injections and surgery. She was hard to look at it in I See You. If she cameos in Twisters, gonna be a lot of twitter buzz about that mug.

I Think We're Alone Now - Can't believe i waited so long on this one. Such a great film. Peter Dinklage going back to his old indie films like Station Agent and Living in Oblivion. One of his best. And one of the best movies i've seen in a while.
Old Dads - If "get off my lawn" was a movie. Awful.
Cold In July - Excellent revenge flick. Don Johnson is great as usual. Dude has had the best comeback ever and just sticks to gritty, exploitation type films that almost always have a 70s vibe. Something about Michael C. Hall's acting always seems off to me. Just unconvincing somehow, like he's uncomfortable in is roles. Still a great movie. The snuff film subplot was really disturbing, but they should have wen't deeper into that imo.

Was gonna say it sucks Jim Mickle hasn’t made more movies, but I just looked at Wikipedia and he’s been busy with that Sweet Tooth show. He hasn’t made a bad movie. In the Shadow of the Moon isn’t great, but it’s decent.

Cold in July is so good, it's possibly Sam Shepard at his scariest... shot in board's favorite city of Kingston, NY
i think Twister was the best '90s natural disaster film because all the characters and events felt real - Hard Rain was another cool one

While watching Hit Man I was thinking “this doesn’t seem like the kind of movie that gets a wide release anymore.” It’s apparently not doing well on Netflix, so there you go. The average movie watcher is an idiot.

I'm hoping for a Ti West-like renaissance from him soon.

Possession is now getting the remake treatment Talk about needless. Dunno how it won’t be sanitized cuz there’s some intense domestic abuse in the first half. Then there’s a batshit wild narrative. Then the ambiguous ending. Hope they take it in a completely new direction, but then why call it Possession.

Thief was really good. Maybe James Caan’s character was considered more sympathetic 40+ years ago, maybe not. Regardless that was kind of getting towards the end of protagonists needing to be Really Good Men.

Possession is great and definitely doesn’t need a remake. It also doesn’t need to be posted 20 times a week by every “cinema” instagram page

I’m definitely in the leave well enough alone camp on Possession, and most classic remakes, but I’ll still check it out. It sorta feels like hubris to tackle this one, tbh. Some updates work, some don’t. Guess we will see.

I liked the Suspiria remake well enough. Did the things a remake should do. Takes the general idea and pushes it in new, far reaching directions.

Every movie should be remade with Robert Pattinson as the lead.

Every movie should be remade with Robert Pattinson as the lead. No actor in the history of cinema has ever redeemed himself more or completely shed the baggage of becoming overnight famous from something most people find laughable. He made his money and then proceeded to just do cool and interesting movies, then waited for that next huge payday with Batman. Can’t think of anybody in his position who has remained super famous and sustained a robust career built largely on movies with limited commercial viability.

I rewatched 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' so I decided to finish the series this week. Here's my ranking:
1 > 3 > 7 > 2 > 5 > 4 > 6
If you haven't watched them, you could get away with just watching 1, 3, & 7 tbh
