The Bikeriders was fine. It has its moments and the performances are pretty good, just incredibly cliche.

How does anyone feel about The Banshees of Inisherin? It’s hot as hell here today and I think I’m just gonna lay around in the AC and hopefully watch something good.

Love Lies Bleeding ruled. Loved the dirty early 90's aesthetic and how weird it got.

Kind of Kindness was good. Like most anthology films, each story varies in quality. The first two stories are quite solid. The last one was pretty good, but it drags in stretches, but it at least ends on a good note. It's fucked up at parts, but it didn't have moments where I felt like a piece of shit for laughing. It's not my favorite from Yorgos, but it's still solid.

The last four Yorgos Lanthimos features have all been at least great... this one, 'Kinds of Kindness', had great moments but was mostly fat. One scene in particular was a 2024 highlight (the friends over watching a movie together) but man... wish they coulda just picked the best parts and made it into one feature. Great cast, great acting though. Still excited for whatever Lanthimos does next.

I could not be more fucking excited for Eggers’ Nosferatu. The Herzog version is one of my favorite movies ever (as well as the original film of course) and this looks like it is absolutely going to be a continuation of the near perfection that Eggers has had so far.

I enjoyed Bikeriders, nothing out of this world but reminded me alot of Iron Claw. Shot well, good performances, but didn't hit me hard emotionally or really make me think about anything other than how cool everything looked. I also love Michael Shannon

enjoyed it a lot. love the aesthetic (big into drafty old pubs) and liked the performances and the weird almost Shakespeare-tragedy style of it all.

Didn’t work for me at all
No issue with how it meanders about, but it wasn’t remotely tense or disquieting
Generally if a horror doesn’t make me squirm/want to avert my eyes, or feel unnerved, I don’t like it - this did neither and mostly felt obligatory after starting it

A Quiet Place: Day One was more like A Mid Place... and just because it took place in Midtown Manhattan hehehehehe
Going through some early Penelope Spheeris... 'The Boys Next Door' has Charlie Sheen and Maxwell Caulfield as teenage boys on a killing spree through Los Angeles. Serial killer stuff was popular at the time so they were trying to make a movie around that. Not sure if it worked. Caulfield goes into a more psycho territory (and Sheen is "along for the ride".) A cop at one point goes off on a rant about how girls are becoming punks and it's a bad thing... Spheeris doing some commentary there. (Before this she directed 'The Decline of Western Civilization' & 'Suburbia')

Up there with 'Furiosa' as the best movie of 2024 (that I've seen so far.)
