Wow Crash 2004 is fucking terrible. I will forever always severely dislike this film and the Oscar recognition it got. Bad movie.

New A Quiet Place is just the Rogue One entry of the series. Meh.

Nah Rogue One was a snoozefest outside of the final 5 minutes.

Kinds of Kindness feels like a rejection of the mainstream success of Poor Things lmao. Still stewing over it.

Aye man I just said it feels that way lmao. Just how vastly in the other direction it came off. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I’m sure a lot more people will be scratching their heads with this one.

Nah, it was filmed after Poor Things. Poor Things would've came out sooner if the strikes didn't happen.

So I just watched in a violent nature. I absolutely loved the cinematography and mood and whole concept of the movie. I think my only real problem with it is when it breaks the storytelling format and shifts to the POV of the victims. It kinda felt like the director didn’t have the bravery to fully commit to the bit.

I think my only real problem with it is when it breaks the storytelling format and shifts to the POV of the victims. It kinda felt like the director didn’t have the bravery to fully commit to the bit. I still got 20-something hours left with my rental and may rewatch it that soon cause I loved it so much. With that ending I tolerated them breaking their own rules only because I think they stuck the landing so well with those final moments. Toying with the audience's understanding of horror tropes but not caving in to them because it would actually invalidate how the killer moved throughout the entire movie if he were to pop out when the truck was parked after they drove some ridiculous distance away from him. That said, for all the complaints from people about it being too slow, I thought they could've made it slower. And it would be kinda funny if instead of that truck scene, it was just him walking for five minutes in the direction of the truck but he never catches up to them lol. Maybe still work in him retrieving the locket somehow, I dunno.

Realizing that you're probably also referring to the campfire scene in which case I do agree. You can still have that scene, as is, with him watching them and hearing every word. We don't need to pan around the fire and "get to know" these dead meats.

The Sandlot might be my most reliable “bring me out of a funk” movie of all time
I’m legitimately curious how many times I’ve seen this shit in my life

I finally bit the bullet and joined AMC A List. There are a lot of movies I want to see coming up so figured I'd take the 3 month dive.
Just saw Kinds of Kindness and it was a blast. A few people actually left the theater. One hard cut resulted in the hardest laugh I've ever tried to hold in. The anthology aspect makes for decent pacing and everyone was great it in. Not a huge fan of Yorgos but I was thoroughly engaged considering an almost 3 hour run time.

I'm just itching for Longlegs. Maika Monroe is the best, Cage going full psycho and writer/director son of the actual Psycho Perkins. I'm so excited for it.

Janet Planet is a low-key banger. It snuck up on me the same way that Aftersun did.

Going to see Jaws tonight for the theater's monthly "cult classic" In general, I have no interest in paying to see something I've already seen again in a theater unless there was something going on like a Q&A with somebody involved. I would make an exception for Jaws though.

Seeing a movie at home <<<<<< seeing a movie in a theater (Shocking, right?)
I’d seen the matrix, the fifth element, the fast and furious franchise and a whole bunch of other stuff at home but seeing those same movies on a huge screen with massive sound just hits different. I’m so glad our local indie theater shows as much old stuff as they do new stuff

Along with the cult ones, they do black and white with a lot of your classics/curveballs and ones with matching cocktails since it has a bar.

2001 in IMAX few years back was life changing. 100% the way that movie was meant to be seen.

Speaking of Q+A's, I saw Rap World, which was co-directed by Connor O'Malley and he was there to answer questions. Cord Jefferson (American Fiction) moderated it. That was pretty fun since they spent a good chunk of it talking about the CKY videos.
I've definitely seen some shitty Q+As, like the kid from C'Mon C'Mon. However, if Abel Ferrara does a Q+A near you, you're an idiot if you miss out. Dude is fucking insane lol. Someone asked him a question and he trailed off for 45 minutes with a bunch of random stories, but somehow managed to bring it back to answering the question at the very end lol.

I got a ticket to the nyc screening of rap world with the q + a. John Wilson is going to be there too. Very excited for that one. Only other q and a I saw was last Friday of the Room. Wiseau was there wearing six belts and answered about one question per belt.

Speaking of which, I'm going to moderate a Q&A with Jeremy Saulnier next week for 'Green Room', hoping it's not a train wreck :)
If I like a movie I'll see it in theaters again & again. If a movie is good enough I'll notice new stuff every time. I've seen T2 many times in theaters and can't wait to do it again haha.
