I started watching Problemista last night It's a little too try-hard-to-be-quirky so far, but I am enjoying it haven't seen this because it did look too quirky-not-quirky, but his subsequent tv show Fantasmas that's airing on hbo right now is killing me it's so funny

MAXXXINE is fucking cool as shit. One of the best 80s pastiches that I've seen in that it doesn't feel hollow but very genuine. Soundtrack rips. De Palma nods flourish! A lot of it feels like Body Double so fuck yeah.

I know I’m about 6 months late on this but Dune 2 was fucking gangster! What a fun ass movie. My only gripe is that I don’t think Zendaya is great in these movies. I really liked her in Euphoria but feels like maybe she was miscast in Dune? And Christopher Walken has become such a meme at this point that it’s hard not to just think of him as Christopher Walken when he pops up on screen.

Oh and also recently watched Animal Factory (2000) after reading the book of the same name by Eddie Bunker. The book is definitely better but the movie is worth checking out mainly due to a great Willem Dafoe performance and some fun cameos such as Mickey Rourke as a prison drag queen and Tom Arnold as a predatory rapist lol.

Why is Channing Tatum playing a scientist (a smart guy) in this upcoming movie, 'Fly Me to the Moon'? He's mastered playing the dumb guy, the himbo. Why. Why would he do this. (The movie also looks terrible but that's besides the point.)

Watched Terminal Exposure, which is like Brain De Palma's Blow Out, but executed like a moronic summer beach comedy. Very inept, but very fun.

Im a big fan of the original but this is a super underrated and crucial piece of nu metal cinema. It starts out with an illegal streetluge race where theyre bombing SF like the GX1000 dudes

Island of Death is fucked up. Mastorakis doing Greek weirdo shit before Yorgos.
The reception on Maxxxine seems to be polarizing. People here seem to like it, but a few friends of mine HATED it. Seeing it in a few hours. Gonna double feature X/Pearl in a few mins.

Just got back from maxxxine. The soundtrack and aesthetic fucking rock. But I dunno. It didn’t do too much for me. It’s obviously a way different tone from the others. But I guess I just expected more. Kevin Bacon is a fucking weirdo in it and that’s cool.

I can't fucking wait for Longlegs. I don't think I've been so hyped for a movie in quite some time.

Beverly Hills Cop 4 isn’t really all that good of a movie, but having grown up with those films, I still enjoyed the hell out of it

It was a lot more fun than I expected. Some fun action sequences that felt like the original.

Last night I wen't to see ‘Kill’… there were some people to my left that talked (not whispered) the entire movie. I didn’t want to say anything because on Thursday last week I did and wasn’t in the mood to be confrontational AGAIN. Also… maybe they were Indian and it’s a cultural thing? (‘Kill’ is an Indian movie.) By the end I was so infuriated (because they didn't let up!) that when the credits hit I walked up and said to them, “thanks for talking through the entire movie. We all appreciated it.” Halfway through saying it I realized… it was the SAME fucking couple that I told to shut up on Thursday last week!!! (Neither were Indian lol)
Sidenote- there are movies where it's acceptable to "comment" on what's happening in a loud enough voice where everybody can hear. This can be funny and add to the experience. Just having a full on conversation throughout the movie where it's loud to hear the voices but not what you're saying is bad.

Dude that’s insanely annoying. But also LOL that it was the same couple.
Some people are just clueless and/or rude as fuck.
But if you encounter this shit a third time with the same couple, you’re morally obligated to throw a full large drink on them

West did it best when he did House of the Devil but does it even better here. Loved it and can’t wait to see it again. And god, Kevin Bacon was the ultimate sleaze master. Longlegs next weekend.

I thought MaXXXine was alright. It was fine for the most part, but lost me in the last 20 mins.

do any of you have a list with amc? i'm seeing everything whenever it's shitty out or for date nights and hangs.
unreal payoff for $25 a month. i'm evangelical about it now. been taking more gambles seeing different stuff and love getting surprised.
ghostlight, thelma and daddio were check in picks the last two weeks and found them all to be endearing.
