Iβd make the case for Climax in the sense that I hadnβt been rocked by a movie like that in a long time. Especially the shit with the son, I was horrified lmfaoooooo Yeah I guess I can see that. Donβt get me wrong I loved the movie, and was fully entranced, I just think for horror you (generally) need an antagonist (even if itβs supernatural or an idea or entity or whatever) and the only antagonist you can argue for in Climax was the punch.

Longlegs was like an episode of Criminal Minds, complete with the iconic white wig. Some interesting shots wasted on a mid movie.

I don't mind watching trailers, but I hate that theaters now show 5-10 minutes of commercials before trailers. We already get enough commercials and promo bullshit before the "start time." Get that shit outta here!!!!!!!

You should be able to mute commercials/trailers at the movies.

It's fucked up when they play the "Let's all go to the lobby" right before the trailers. It's too late for snacks at that point! Can't miss those red band trailers

Saw Maxxxine last night, I was hoping for it to be amazing because of how much I loved Pearl. It was good fun, definitely my least favorite out of the three but enjoyed it a lot. Also 15 mins of trailers, not behd

Re-watched Starred Up (2013) directed by David Mackenzie who most notably did Hell or High Water. UK prison movie, absolutely incredible performance by Jack OβConnell as a volatile young prisoner who gets transferred to the same prison as his estranged his Dad, played by Ben Mendehlson who is great as always. High recommendation.

Can I just say how much I loved Miami Vice?! I watched it last night. Seriously a masterpiece. Everything about it rule. Going to watch Thief and Heat this weekend.
In the last week I've watched
Judgement Night Overboard(87) Miami Vice Ace Venture: When Nature Calls A Fish Called Wanda Total Recall(1990) The Couch Trip

The opening is way too long now and got sick of it 2 movies into A-List.
I actually clocked AMC bumper and trailer time and it's anywhere between 20-25 minutes.
I'm showing up 20 minutes after the actual show time and haven't missed any part of a movie for the last 6 I've seen.
Zero reason to ever show up early or on time for a flick now.

I host a Con Air Day (July 14th) viewing party at my house every year and I have begun the process of securing a venue (PhilaMOCA in Philly) to host a viewing party open to the public in 2025, 100 seats. Putting the deposit down this weekend.
Iβm trying to do it big: dress as your favorite con costume contest, dramatic readings from the (very bad) novelization, playing period appropriate trailers beforehand, bringing memorabilia, trivia, etc.
So if youβre in the Philly area, mark July 14th 2025 down in your calendars and come thru

saw Longlegs last night I didn't realize it was going to be Paranormal in nature which, among so many other reasons, is part of what made it stink in my book. The whole killer doll shit and the devil fog bank stuff just really spoiled what I felt could have potentially been a really fun and creepy thriller like Se7en type shit.
The scene where he is around her house was done so well and I think if they had removed the paranormal elements and kept his screen time limited they could have had something more special having moments like that continually build up.
That being said... I can't deny I was entertained the whole time. I could collectively feel the audience at a certain point accepting that it wasn't going to be a "good" movie and once people started allowing themselves to laugh at the more absurd and unintentionally funny scenes you could feel the whole room just lighten up and by the end the crowd was pretty rowdy. Overall it was a fun movie going experience but I am bummed that it wasn't the movie I thought it was going to be in my head.
