I kinda like Alien 3 but without the assembly cut it sure is messy. In my head, the story ends after Aliens. Kinda feel bad for Alien 3 cuz even if it had been better, nobody was gonna be on board with how it starts.
The Aliens director’s cut, conversely, should be skipped because it does the very stupid thing of showing the colony before the marines land.

THOUGH, it has that awesome scene with the sentry turrets. When I watched it on CBS in 1989 (which was my 4th time seeing it) I was like "where did that scene come from???" Also "Ripley had a daughter?" I actually think this is sweet af, no Hadly's Hope intro, Just some cool extra shit. -Ripley on a park bench. She learns about her daughter's death. -Robot sentries salvaged from the APC wreckage. -Prepping/testing the robot sentries. -Robot sentry battles one and two. -Ripley and Hicks exchange names. |

First 3 are essential.
Resurrection is a fun dumb European popcorn flick.
Everything else sucks.
Prometheus would be better as a standalone film.

i put off watching prometheus for years until a few months ago when i grabbed it on blu-ray and watched it on mushrooms. insanely cool visuals and i’m so jealous my gf saw it in theaters in 3d cuz it is perfect for that

What’s cool about the quadrilogy is at least every film is distinct. And doesn’t do the modern “hey, references…oh shit, they did that in the first one” thing every franchise does. And while Resurrection isn’t a classic, it’s at least entertaining.

I really only care about Alien and Aliens.
I wanted to give Romulus a chance because I’m a big fan of Evil Dead 2013 but I dunno. Ill just wait til I can watch it at home.

Do not listen to the people tut-tutting Prometheus and Covenant. Both have fantastic visuals, good world-building, mythology and acting.
I’ve already read a bunch of people shitting on Romulus because it’s “too close to the original” which only proves that people are fickle fucks that will dislike something both because it’s too similar and because it’s too different.
