Okay I'm going to whittle this down to 32 titles for the bracket... if anybody feels like there's any glaring omissions, let me know now: (I didn't include movies such as 'manhunter' or 'dead ringers' because neither feel like horror? not sure if that's a 'hot take' by me...) I'm also not sure what to do about some of the franchises... like how many friday the 13th movies should be on the 32 movie bracket? 1980 Alligator Cannibal Holocaust City of the Living Dead Dressed To Kill The Fog Friday the 13th Inferno Maniac Prom Night The Shining 1981 An American Werewolf In London The Beyond The Burning The Evil Dead Friday the 13th Part 2 Halloween II The Howling My Bloody Valentine Possession Scanners 1982 Basket Case Cat People Creepshow The Fan Friday the 13th Part III Halloween III: Season of the Witch Poltergeist The Slumber Party Massacre Tenebre The Thing 1983 Angst Blood Beat Christine Cujo The Dead Zone Jaws 3-D The Keep Psycho II Sleepaway Camp Videodrome 1984 C.H.U.D. Children Of The Corn Firestarter Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter Gremlins The Mutilator Night Of The Comet A Nightmare On Elm Street Silent Night, Deadly Night Sole Survivor 1985 Day Of The Dead Demons Friday the 13th: A New Beginning Fright Night Lifeforce A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy’s Revenge Phenomena Re-Animator The Return Of The Living Dead The Stuff 1986 Chopping Mall Critters The Fly Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives From Beyond Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer The Hitcher Little Shop Of Horrors Night Of The Creeps The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 1987 Angel Heart Bad Taste Evil Dead II Hellraiser The Hidden The Lost Boys Near Dark A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors Opera Prince Of Darkness 1988 The Blob Brain Damage Child's Play Elvira: Mistress of the Dark Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers Hellbound: Hellraiser II Killer Klowns From Outer Space A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master Pumpkinhead 1989 Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers Intruder Leviathan Pet Sematary Parents Puppet Master Shocker Society Tetsuo: The Iron
Juste wen't over the list again and feel like these should at least be taken into consideration The Funhouse Hell Night Motel Hell Don’t Go In the House Dead and Buried Just Before Dawn The House on Sorority Row Fade to Black There's many, many more, but these are the ''biggest'' ones. I'll also use this post as my plea to get Sleepaway Camp into the bracket. Cheers

Just Before Dawn really benefits from the setting. Solid movie and Gregg Henry as a lead is cool. The Final Terror does a good job with the wilderness setting too, but it’s only occasionally engaging and can’t decide if it wants to be a slasher.

Agreed!!
That rope bridge in Just Before Dawn is wonderful. Good characters and the ending is barzoic haywire... Connie is one of the most bad ass final girls I can think of. I also like that it features Mike Kellin from Sleepaway Camp as a drunk... oh and an annoyed George Kennedy. I fucking love this movie.

That's another slasher that utilizes nature to the extreme with many lingering inserts of the forest and its fauna. Not nearly as good as Just Before Dawn, but I can't imagine you not liking it for that reason alone.

Saw The End, post-apocalyptic musical directed by Joshua Oppenheimer (director of The Act of Killing and The Look of Silence). I love the idea of a bleak and grand scale Golden Era style musical in an extremely confined setting, but it's a bit too tedious to justify it being 148 minutes. Most of the musical numbers sound the same and by the time there is some variety in the musical numbers in the second half, it's a bit too late. Michael Shannon was great though.

Yeah my friend saw it at Telluride and said the songs just aren't good enough to justify the runtime and it felt like it didn't do anything, just constantly waiting for something to draw you in.

Stanley Tucci started filming Easy A a month after his wife died from cancer. Didn’t like it when I saw it, but was just looking at his wiki. I dunno who could go do a movie a month later, especially when you have kids.

Dude was nominated for his role in Lovely Bones literally one year before Easy A and was in the critically and commercially successful Julia Childs movie, too. If anything, the Tucciverse really took off because of Hunger Games, not his incredibly small role as cool dad in Easy A.

I watched Gremlins 2 with my niece on Saturday, and The Birds yesterday. I almost forgot how prevalent smoking cigarettes was everywhere. Office buildings, restaurants, living rooms...everyone looked so cool.

All I know is he was the talk of the town from his role, with younger folks even being into it. Emma Stone was kinda known but it was her breakout role, and Stan Man was also talked up a lot. It’s the ultimate Cool Dad role.

Easy A rules.
One of my very favorite coming of age juvenile comedies. Still watch it two or three times a year.
