Both parents are adorable as hell.
Don’t know why I’ve always loved it so much, just do.

Yeah The Brutalist looks gorgeous and this is how teasers should be done. Score seems riveting too.

terrifyer 3 was aight, some good laughs, 3 walkouts in the first 10 minutes. rat scene was intense. defo preferred 2 though, it felt more weird and kinda trippy, this one was a bit drier I thought? also last act was super rushed and kinda came out of nowhere but i'm not about to take it too seriously, its fucking terrifyer

Ordered: 'Citizen Kane', 'Gummo', and the 'The Heroic Trio / Executioners' collection... used some codes a friend passed along for a grand total of $4.90. Wanted to get 'Peeping Tom' and 'Happiness' but both are sold out

Had a friend who saw Gladiator 2 yesterday, I guess he worked on it in some capacity
Said it was fine, said the photography and score is total ass. He said there are some sick moments and some good performances.

Anyone else seen Red Rooms yet? Hasn’t gotten that much exposure, guessing due to subject matter.

Red Rooms was good, check that one out
Been going to AFI Fest, few flicks I've watched so far
Devo documentary: Fine. Worth a watch if you like the music.
Afternoons of Solitude: Best at the fest so far. Albert Serra (Liberte, Pacifiction) does an observation documentary about a bullfighter. Total slow cinema-type shit, but you also could've fooled me into believing this was a narrative feature. Pulled off the ability to make the audience come up with their interpretation of it by simply that showing what it is without force-feeding you a thesis.
Hard Truths: Mike Leigh doing Mike Leigh, so it's good
The Room Next Door: Kinda had low expectations for Pedro Almodovar's first English language feature, but it's honestly just as solid as his other work. Much funnier than I expected it to be.
Pavements: Very solid and funny hybrid documentary/meta-fiction take on the band. Could've been trimmed a tad, but really captures the essence of the band. Really appeals to the fans who ride on the band's wavelength. A must watch if you like Pavement.

Yeah, I watched Red Rooms last night. Did it even get a limited release stateside? That early long shot in court was pretty incredible, in that it wasn’t showy at all but completely immerses you and is super dialogue heavy. Imagine being the one who flubs a line in that situation. Great control of tone, with a lead that gives you just enough to understand her without doing any of the big stuff that regular moviegoers need to understand or enjoy a movie. Just a really well drawn character and great performance.

Saw Red Rooms on streaming earlier this year (I guess it dropped way earlier in Canada). I liked it up until a point where I got totally taken out of it and ended up turning it off before I finished it. Given how many people I know have raved about it I kinda want to give it another shot, because I was really enjoying it and found it super affecting up until then.
Dude from the Deadly Snakes playing the accused was cool. He's able to carry so much gravity while doing so little. Pretty impressive.

Near the end, he doesn’t do anything explosive, but just dials up the creep factor considerably. Heckuva job.

Thought 'Red Rooms' was okay, not sure why people are nutting over it. Maybe I missed something (nut worthy)

Just watched Strange Darling. While it did work a little too hard to impress, it was a great time. Wish it would’ve played around here.

At one time I was being bold and saying it wouldn’t break 500 million. It’s probably not hitting 210. A million Christmas days at once for me if it can’t hit 200.

Joker 2 could've been dope but no way a hollywood studio is going to gamble on that idea with that IP.
Just watch Little Shop of Horrors and pretend Suddenly Seymour is Harley Quinn and Joker singing to each other while doing crimes, and Downtown/Skid Row is about Gotham City.

AFI Fest watches for today
The Order: Good performances and exceptionally shot, but very bland cat and mouse thriller
Nickel Boys: Easily one of the best films I've seen this year. POV cinematography comes off gimmicky at first, but it gradually works in its favor.
