Same. I was stoked on the Battlefront reboot when it came out but got quickly burned out by what was essentially just a reskinned call of duty clone. Never tried the new Battlefront 2 and I don’t care about it. Nothing touches the OG

I like Maul now that they gave him a personality in Clone Wars and Rebels His storyline in Rebels is so good. That final duel is so rewarding came to post about said duel.

Watched attack of the clones last night and holy shit is it bad. 98% of the movie is expository dialogue which is bearable if youre into the lore like me, but I can't imagine anyone who isn't a star wars nerd gets any enjoyment from that movie. Even the few action sequences aren't that great. Those movies shouldn't have been done in front of blue/green screens because the actors clearly suffered due to it. The way GL wrote/directed Anakin just made him seem like a creepy incel who thinks the world owes him something.

The best part of the prequels is how widely they've become memes/YouTubePoop's on the internet.

Has anyone checked out Resistance? It's the first animated show that I can't get through. I resorted to just watching the non-fillers that actually expand on the lore. I'm surprised that the drop-off in quality is so significant, but I guess it makes sense when you consider it was probably only made to fill up the space of two years between the movies.

Glad this thread exists. Since the new SW is about to come out in a month there's a lot of Last Jedi talk. Can someone really quickly just explain to me, a casual SW fan, not a die hard, what all of the hate is about that Last Jedi? 'Cause I don't get it.

Lots of people (myself included) don't like the entire middle of the movie where finn and Rose go to that casino. I thought the whole thing looked way too much like a present-day earth casino and wasn't alien-looking enough. That part really drags on and it shoehorns in a bunch of messages like slavery bad, rich people bad, etc. that a lot of virgin nerds felt didn't belong there. Like people got really upset at the fact that Laura Dern had purple hair I think because she looks like a typical liberal caricature does today. Theres also goofy shit like Leia doing that weird force superman move in the airless vacuum of space. I saw TLJ in theaters and loved it, bought it as soon as it came out on blu ray and haven't touched it since. I was more hyped on The force awakens. The Mandalorian has rekindled my star wars hype.

I think the deeper points that people were upset about related to "subverting expectations" at every turn. Rian asked the question, "What would be the most difficult thing for this person to endure?" while writing the script. In a vacuum, that's fine, but it might not have been the greatest choice for a Star Wars film. The Last Jedi made people ask themselves whether Star Wars is simply of series of movies or if it's an archetype that follows a formula. It all depends on what you're looking for. I can see both sides of the argument when it comes to that movie.

very true. Stuff like emperor snoke seemingly getting killed off for no reason when he was built up to be the big baddie in TFA and Rey's parents being "nobody" (although I think this is gonna be revealed to be a lie)

I liked it when I first saw it, but then saw it again and a few things really bugged me. For one the original plan for it was thrown out he window, and they made Luke this bitter hermit when he's known to be a positive and powerful Jedi. mark hail himself was pissed at how it turned out. Also the whole Leah flying in space shit is so cheesy. The humor at every moment gets exhausting, though I think Star Wars in general has always had cheesy humor in it. I also think the force ghost thing is a cop out, and I hear they're really going all out with it in the new movie. Overall it could have been so much better, COULD have. But Rian Johnson's ego got in the way and he really twisted it up.

No Knights of Ren, silly MCU humor, every single Canto Bight scene, Luke never being Luke (in the flesh) again and then dying, Mary Poppins Leia, most interesting and intriguing character from TFA being killed off like it was nothing. A lot of the color palette and set design seemed off (throne room, Crait, etc) and not at all "Star Wars". I’m forgetting like 25 more things but there ya go.

I'm one of a few people in the thread who really loved TLJ and thought it improved on the flaws of TFA. I feel like there was a lot of backwards justification for the hate it got because people were hoping RJ would fulfill or reveal the 10000000 mysteries JJ set up in TFA and were disappointed. So you see lot of commentary about how it violates the canon, or it had plot holes or like critiquing fight choreography. Not accusing anyone in this thread specifically of that, but I feel like there was so much speculation and rampant fan theorizing after TFA that it was set up for failure no matter what he did.

Hard agree. It definitely gets more hate than it deserves and after TFA I was seemingly the only person who DIDNT want Rey to be a skywalker or descendent of a character we already know. Making her related to someone we know makes the Star Wars universe seem so much smaller. I’d be perfectly fine with her parents being nobodies but I doubt it’s gonna resolve that way.

tlj basically shot down every thing tfa set up and for what. it was like it's own movie. the only reason youd need to watch tfa before tlj is for character introductions because the stories don't align or build off each other at all

I’m fine with new stories and characters but these are direct sequels to the OT. TFA did a fairly decent job of tying (or at least alluding to a connection) these new characters to our old beloved heroes and the TLJ came along and just burned it all down seemingly just for the sake of burning it all down. I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I was 5 so I just can’t view TLJ in a vacuum like some of you can. If you like the movie, then no prob. I’m not a toxic fan or some nerd tube idiot. I just personally can’t get down on it.

TLJ gives the characters three dimensions. Even Poe, who was established in TFA as about the most 1 dimensional character imaginable, becomes compelling and purposeful. Just because a boring big bad macguffin gets killed off by the third act of the second movie, the stories don't build on each other?

Not really, it just wasn't as captivating as the first three. They can't all be home runs, I suppose. Gina Carano is an absolute unit. Jesus Christ, her legs are like birch wood logs.

isnt episode 4 the original Star Wars? If so, I agree. It's not good. Empire and Jedi are prime.

Episode 4 felt like night and day tonally from the other eps, and then I saw Bryce Dallas Howard directed and that's why.

I enjoyed Episode 4, painting Mando out to be a total badass but someone who tries to do the "right thing" is a cool turn for his character in my apinion. I'm excited to see where the rest of the season takes him and the kid
