She was still dedicating a lot of her time being a professional kiteboarder around that time, but yeah, had to have a bad agent and some bad luck with floppy flops. That makes sense. I really enjoyed Hot Summer Nights (love that area and overall feel), she outclassed Chalamet in it if ya ask me. She was also good in the nature paranormal Significant Other partnered with an insufferable Jake Lacy. The Guest is an underated romp and the only movie I ever watched immediately over again. I still need to see God Is A Bullet. Seemed up my alley. THE GUEST is such a rewatchable movie. Just like in It Follows (and Watcher, and God is a Bullet) she displays such a smooth vulnerability, but smart as a whip and hella capable. God is a Bullet is a flawed AF movie, villains are corny tryhards, but bonkers as a bat. It's so dumb and violent. She, of course, is the reason to see it.

1 2 4 5 3 6 I do need to rewatch that newest one tho, it may switch spots with 3 I dunno Rewatched 6 tonight and liked it a lot more second time around. I feel like that’s generally the case with these movies. It’s better than 3 imo Stoked for 7!

Totally Killer was a pretty fun BTTF meets 80s slasher movie.

Re-watched Possum last week. Maybe my favorite horror movie of the past 10 years.

It’s definitely way more thriller than horror but I watched Fall last night and it scared me way more than any movie I’ve ever seen. I had sweaty hands and feet throughout and actually had to stop it a few times. FUCK heights man 😱

They are making me sign some release form for this Thanksgiving screening, they are filming reactions. Gonna sock whoever is sitting next to me and say that I was genuinely frightened. Eli Roth is gonna do a Q+A.

It was dumb fun. Certainly gorier than the average mainstream horror film, but I don't think it tops the most depraved moments of Terrifier 2, but it still had some cool kills. There are some laughs too.
I'm technically embargoed from posting my apinion. I don't know why though, the crowd had a blast.

Had no idea that was even in production. Excited for it. Remember seeing Grindhouse in theaters, and my friends and I wishing for a full 'Thanksgiving' film.

I feel like there was talk of making that movie a decade ago that kinda fizzled out. I’m stoked it finally happened. Will watch 👍
(I loved grindhouse)

Eli Roth is hit or miss for me, but Thanksgiving is one of those projects that I actually wanna watch. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of b-movie slashers and I think he’s at his best when he’s doing horror films with comedic elements.

Roth did say he wanted to bring in some more brutal kill scenes, but there was studio interference where they were only down with the brutal kills as long as it's related to the holiday. For the most part, it stays pretty loyal to that trailer with the kill scenes. At the same time, I wasn't hoping for them to recreate all the kills, kinda ruins the surprise tbh. One particular death scene was very funny.
The reveal was pretty underwhelming, but it was fun.

I haven't scrolled up to find out, but we're thoughts shared about the new Halloween coming out next year? Like....what the fuck? Where do you go from here?
Are they going to pull some Jason Vorhees Friday the 13th lore bullshit or a Basket Case congealed blob creature slinking through the night killing people angle?

There's nothing confirmed on the Halloween front. Maybe a series, maybe an anthology situation, a video game, maybe a different studio starting over with a Michael storyline. My youtube algorithm is positively rife with dudes who seemingly makes videos only about Halloween developments and its all conjecture.

I decided to watch VHS 85 last night with extremely low expectations since I think the last couple have been absolutely atrocious. It actually turned out to be my favorite since the original. I really liked just about every short, except maybe the woman with the VR headset. I also thought the VHS tape format was going to be really annoying but it became part of what I really enjoyed about it.

Caught Dream Scenario last night, the new A24 flick with Nick Cage. Not horror per se, but will appeal to fans. Absolutely insane ride. Cage is really good in this. The movie is like shades of Adaptation going full Curb Your Enthusiasm right into Nightmare on Elm St. Worth noting Ari Aster was supposed to direct, but ended up producing. Learned that after the fact, and it made all too much sense.

Anyone checked out Wounds on hulu? Got about halfway through when body horror started creeping in and mai waife tapped out. Moved into an unexpectedly lovecraftian direction, but I was engaged enough that I'll likely finish it
just finished it, nah, no good.

Tired of the cold ass weather so naturally watched Frozen. Kind of a horror/thriller. Done by Adam Green who made the Hatchet films.
Love the local nods to Newbury Comics and Papa Gino's.

Crosspost from the film thread
Thanksgiving was fun. Imperfect and predictable for sure, but an enjoyable time. Not sure I’d recommend seeing it in the theater unless you’re catching it with a group of friends or a packed house. I don’t think it entirely sustains itself enough to justify the theater without the added entertainment of group gross-outs, laughter, etc.
There’s definitely going to be a sequel.
