^^ I cannot wait for that shit Really wish they cast Michael Biehn tho I really wish they kept it as a 70s/80s slasher, instead of it being set in modern time

I watched The Retaliators last night because it popped up on my Amazon Prime o-count and the best way I can describe it is Mandy if it was made by some motocross/Call Of Duty series/Mountain Dew enthusiast trailer trash who loves Five Finger Death punch and the guy from Papa Roach so much he put them in the movie (they are actually in the movie) and holy shiiiiiiit it’s so fucking bad. Absolutely hilarious at times but very very bad.

only thing I watched this month was They Live for the first time. Didn't realize it was gonna feel so much like a western.

Going to watch OG Halloween tonight.
Randomly watched five nights at Freddy’s last night. As a horror movie weak. But as a gremlins/monster squad (milder) esq movie it was pretty good. Plot of was simple and worked. Matthew Willard was great.

Couldn't find halloween ends for free, so we put on Rob Zombies Halloween from 2007. Definitely the better choice. This one fucking rocks.

I just watched Anguish for the first time, this shit is fucking sick. Zelda Rubinstein's voice is going to haunt me. Very bizarre metatextual slasher. It's on effedupmovies.

Wrapping up the 31 days of Halloween-adjacent (with some liberties) movies tonight with the annual send-off. An abundance of rewatches, which can be expected, but opted for new redundancies this year. And Hubie made it twice. Because of course it did. I fucking love that dumb movie.
Happy Halloween, y’all
1. Frankenweenie (animated) 2. The Exorcist 3 3. Killer Klowns From Outer Space 4. Saw X 5. We Summon The Darkness 6. Coco 7. Totally Killer 8. The Beasts 9. The Retaliators 10. Casper 11. The Burbs 12. Hubie Halloween 13. I Saw The Devil 14. Vicious Fun 15. Poltergeist 16. Night of the Demons 17. Ghostbusters (og) 18. Fright Night (og) 19. Dark Harvest 20. Kill List 21. Possession 22. Nightmare on Elm Street -- Last minute decision and I'm so glad I'll be ending my Halloween binge on this one. Halfway through and finishing it tonight. First time seeing it?? It’s a timeless goated horror, seen it like 30 times and it never gets old My list this year: The Exorcist (1973) Night Of The Comet (1984) Retribution (1987) Slither (2006) The Exorcist: Believer (2023) Lord Of Illusions (1995) X-Ray (1981) Twins Of Evil (1971) V/H/S/85 (2023) Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight (1995) Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) Candy Land (2022) Island Of Lost Souls (1932) Manhattan Baby (1982) When Evil Lurks (2023) The Fury (1978) Beware: Children At Play (1989) A Tale Of Two Sisters (2003) Creepshow (1982) Village Of The Damned (1995) Terrified (2018) Carrie (1976) Death Spa (1988) Cthulhu Mansion (1992) Fright Night (1985) Dark Harvest (2023) Body Snatchers (1993) Vampires (1998) The Beyond (1981) Huesera: The Bone Woman (2022) Halloween (2007)
bonus limited series:
The Fall Of The House Of Usher (2023) Not my first, but haven’t seen it in a long time. Watching it again makes me wish I had spent more time with it. Freddy was so popular when I was too young to watch it — tainted the experience a bit. Still, it has one of the best protagonists I’ve seen in a minute.

I was over on the Squier-Talk forum and there was a thread polling Rodney Dangerfield vs Don Rickles (opposites of the same coin, if you ask me, y'know "can't get no respect" vs the king of insult comics), and it stirred up a memory of a movie I watched on HBO as a like 14 year old where a vampiric Don Rickles spontaneously combusts when a nurse, ignorant of the vampirism, nonchalantly pulls the shades on window, and also there were naked boobs.
Googled it. It's "Innocent Blood", which is (according to wikipedia) a John Landis black comedy/erotic a Dracula thriller based in Pittsburgh featuring cameos by Dario Argento, Linnea Quigley, Sam Raimi, Tom Savini, and Frank Oz.
I kinda wanna watch it again as an adult dork.

Halloween Ends is free on Prime I think?
I hated the Rob Zombie ones because they were all like “oh he turned evil because he had a bad childhood” instead of the originals where they’re like he’s just fucking evil.
Currently watching The Smiley Face Killers, honestly thought it would be better given that it written by Brent Easton Ellis but apparently he’s fallen off a bit.
Happy Halloween to you all, let’s keep this thread going more throughout the year.

Happy Halloween to you all, let’s keep this thread going more throughout the year. I think zombie did a killer job but I totally see why that would be off putting. At the same time though, I really liked the deep dive into his childhood. I don't think it was so much a "his childhood sucked so much that it turned him evil" as much as it was like "here's this kids fucked up family, and let's look at how he was already exhibiting weird, evil behavior like killing all his pets and being a fucking pariah, that was simultaneously overlooked AND exasperated by his surroundings" I dunno. Me and my wife wen't a few rounds on why she hated it and how I just thought she was being overly harsh lolololol. But that's the beauty of movies I guess. It's all subjective and fun to talk about.

I'm fairly convinced this movie was only made because Ellis owed all the male models he slept with a role in a movie. One of the worst movies I've ever seen easily.

I can't recommend the movie in the slightest, the idea behind it,the actual murders, is a cool premise, and Crispin Glover's make up is cool, but everything else is absolute garbage. The acting, music, shots, etc. are atrocious.

Great insane visuals. (Could do without the white horse and his mom). I highly recommend the talking shape books. They really cover the making of all the Halloween films. His halloweens were heavily fucked with by the Weinsteins.

RZ was on Howie Mandels podcast (no clue he even had one) and talks about the headaches from the Weinsteins a little bit. I don't know how those grimy fucks can complain about how it performed considering it turned a pretty solid profit and was dumped in goddamn AUGUST. I liked it more when it first came out. I remember really anticipating it at the time and seeing it opening day. Over time, the writing and performances really wore me down and it doesn't do much for me now.

I really liked Devil's Rejects, but everything else I've seen from RZ has been pretty bad. Halloween 1 and 2 had some tense moments, but I feel like he dropped the ball with the dialogue.

Brad Douriffs sheriff Brackett in H2 might have been the best acting in any of his movies (the directors cut, where you can actually hear his screams when he finds his daughter)

Maika Monroe is so so talented. She's kind of become a scream queen, which is great for the genre, but she either doesn't get calls or turns down roles? She was still dedicating a lot of her time being a professional kiteboarder around that time, but yeah, had to have a bad agent and some bad luck with floppy flops. That makes sense. I really enjoyed Hot Summer Nights (love that area and overall feel), she outclassed Chalamet in it if ya ask me. She was also good in the nature paranormal Significant Other partnered with an insufferable Jake Lacy. The Guest is an underated romp and the only movie I ever watched immediately over again. I still need to see God Is A Bullet. Seemed up my alley.
