Kinda stoked to see the inevitably dumb nunsploitation flick Immaculate this weekend.

New Pet Cemetery movie. Bet it's gonna suck ass but that's not unusual for Pet Cemetery movies.

Yeah, the new Pet Sematary wasn't that awful, but that Bloodlines movie makes the remake and Pet Sematary Two look like classics in comparison

Late Night with the Devil was fantastic. Felt like a cross between Ghostwatch and the Cleansing Hour with a splash of Faces of Death and something out of the V/H/S series set to a 70s variety talkshow backdrop. Solid references integrated and great execution. One part almost took me out of it until it became clear why they wen't this route. Found footage for people who hate found footage.
Now I'm curious about Immaculate. The trailer looked like a generic nun horror movie, but it's getting a decent response. Anyone see that yet?

I have not seen Immaculate but some reviewers on Youtube who I generally trust have said it was surprisingly good

Back story on Immaculate is pretty interesting too. Apparently Sweeney auditioned for it, didn't get it and it never got made. She kept track of the script, bought the rights, got a director, and cast herself because she liked it so much.

I thought Immaculate was fine. I guess you'd like it more if you've never seen a nunsploitation movie before. It has its moments at least. Compared to other mainstream nun-related horror options, this is at least a notch above the other contemporaries.

So apparently The First Omen is actually good and what Exorcist Believer should have been

First Omen is good. Solid revival for the franchise.
Immaculate is fine. It’s extremely brisk, definite Rosemary’s Baby vibe, but with more Catholicism.
Thought the ending of Late Night really honked, but didn’t really care because it’s was all of five/ten minutes and everything else before it delivered a lot of entertainment.
You’ll Never Find Me really goes off the rails when it shows its cards, but it was alright for a watch at home.

Was at the movies to see Monkey Man last night and they played the trailer for Sting. Someone in the audience had a full on hysterical screaming panic attack. Sounded really bad.

I didn’t like X either. Pearl was better but still didn’t love it. Don’t understand the crazy hype these movies got unless you don’t really watch the genre as a whole.

Apparently Joe Bob is just one movie now and every 2 weeks? I didn't even know he was back since Shudder does a bad job at advertising itself. I didn't cancel my subscription on time (because they don't tell you in advance) and it's been renewed for another year... at least it's cheap.

Saw Blackout last night. The subject matter, small-town elements and touches of humor reminded me a little of the Wolf of Snow Hollow, but it's a bit different. Surprised me in a lot of pleasant ways. A couple fun kills and some familiar faces.

I loved house of the devil and innkeepers but did not like the sacrament much. I don’t really have any interest in this new trilogy
