watched Demons because of this thread. Pretty gnarly stuff Might give this a watch over the weekend. That said, I'm cruising for a bruising saying this, but I don't really like eyetalian horror, and I've given it the old college try.

Check out Torso and city of the living dead. Those go hard. Good suggestions!! In many ways, Demons is your typical eyetalian horror movie, but I feel like it also goes beyond that and could have mass appeal. Besides, where else are you going to see punks cruising around town, sniffing cocaine with a straw straight out of a coke can set to Billy Idol's White Wedding...

That said, I'm cruising for a bruising saying this, but I don't really like eyetalian horror, and I've given it the old college try. Giallo is what eyetalian horror is mostly known for. That and Fulci's bizarre ass visuals, dream like stories and gore. Those might be your impression of eyetalian horror? Demons is sooooo unlike either. It's more like some insane zombie movie where everything is cranked to 100. Really fun, kinetic, horror movie that swings for the fences. Demons 2 is also pretty solid. The Church which is questionably supposed to be Demons 3 is decent, too, for different reasons, but really has no connection to the first two. Neither does the other weird sequels cashing in on its name. The lineage of those films nearly rivals the Halloween franchise with how head scratching it is.

Pretty much the gold standard for eyetalian horror.

Need to get on that, though.

Demons 2 gets pretty wild, it's a fun one. I still need to see The Church... it's Soavi so it should be pretty good. I know it was originally conceived as a sequel, but Soavi didn't write the movie like that at all from what I heard him say in interviews.
Perhaps Cemetery Man could also be a decent suggestion for someone who isn't really into Italain horror.

Love eyetalian horror and love Romero. The only Romero films I don’t love are Diary and Survival. Knightriders, while not horror, is an all time favorite

Fulci's The Beyond I didn't like at all.

Double feature time!!
Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge and Chopping Mall.
Obviously the theme here was ''mall horror''. Fun bit of trivia, both were shot at the Sherman Oaks Galleria where many other movies also filmed, including Commando, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Valley Girl and many more...
Chopping Mall is an all time favorite. Killer score, killer cast... and killer robots. I think ''fun movie'' is overused, I'm guilty of it myself, but it's the best way to describe this one. Slick and breezy with hilarious dialogue and one of the best exploding heads in cinema history. ''Let's send these fuckers a Rambo-gram''
Phantom of the Mall isn't nearly as good, but I still like it a lot... I could rave about it, but I won't. I think this might be Pauly Shore's first movie and he's already in full weasel mode.

Watched it recently in 4k and the colors were amazing, absolutely loved every second of it. Last Cushing I saw was Twins of Evil and he’s a devilishly evil ibastard in that one. …''purify their spirits so that they may find mercy at the seat of the Lord... BY BURNING THEM!!!’’

I've seen Dr. Terror's House Of Horrors . Been a while since I've seen it. I like the wrap around on the train. I don't remember much other than I liked it. I watched a lot of anthologies at the time and a lot were terrible it was a welcomed change.

Tales From the Crypt (1972) and Vault of Horror (1973) are two excellent anthologies as well.

I will watch V/H/S films for as long as they make them. Beyond was very uneven with possibly the worst segment across the franchise. It also had two of the best that I thought could make for great feature length stories. The wrap around segment was pretty disjointed and had a horrible ending.
