That song in Mutilator sounds like it could be a Billy Joel cast-off but it rules. Really the ending saved that one for me, thought it was fine otherwise

Watched this last night. Trying to keep up with contemporary horror. Was shot well, the b&w looked real nice. The emphasis on folklore and horror via those elements (especially done in the past) reminded me of 'Kwaidan' (which is funny because of how well that movie utilizes color.) Things ramp up towards the end but not enough to make the movie one that I'd recommend. Worth seeing if you like more classic horror that is not especially scary.

I will watch V/H/S films for as long as they make them. Beyond was very uneven with possibly the worst segment across the franchise. It also had two of the best that I thought could make for great feature length stories. The wrap around segment was pretty disjointed and had a horrible ending. Not surprising. Seems pretty par for the course with all of them. A couple great segments in each but then some horribly bad ones

They are very uneven but are better than most other modern horror anthology's which is sad.

Recently I've been making an effort to watch more new stuff and posts like these are great since I had never even heard of this movie. Good looking out!!

Anyone feel like Nicolas Cage (in Longlegs) was channeling Tiny Tim's performance in Blood Harvest? I can't help but think that's what he was going for. Funny thing is, Marvellous Mervo is not the villain in Blood Harvest, but he still manages to be the creepiest part of the movie. Skip to around 2:35 to see what I'm rambling about: (there are other parts in the movie to better showcase what I'm saying, but not finding them) --- Reading up on Demi Moore and was reminded she is the model on this classic poster: Pretty cool.

What are some good soundtracks for me to throw on at work? I have Nekromantik going right now, with Halloween III and Beyond the Darkness queued up

watched Strange Darling tonight. Completely exceeded all expectations. Well shot, well acted and choosing to sequence it out of order was a solid choice. Probably would not have been nearly as good otherwise.

My favorite part in Blood Harvest (9:13). This is the full movie on yt btw(they cut out the nudity though). Can't ever imagine watching this (or any slasher) without the nudity. I mean, it's not necessarily the nudity per se, but there's lots of action that involves it and you would be missing like 1/4 of the movie. Cool that it's on there nonetheless.

Yeah I noticed it after posting it. The nudity is definitely necessary in this one plot-wise. They left in a dude's butt though.

I rewatched Mario Bava’s Black Sunday (the mask of satan) this week, and god damn, what an incredible looking movie. One of those sorts of eyetalian classics where the plot is less important than the immaculate vibes that you just want to live in. One of the best opening scenes in a horror movie ever imo. Shocking how gruesome it is considering it was 1960.
Every horror fan should watch Black Sunday. Real horror heads know about it, but it should be held in the same breath as Night of the Living Dead and Psycho as essential 1960s horror flicks.

Black Sunday is so good. Saving that one for closer to Halloween. Another one im saving with immaculate vibes is the old dark house. One of my absolute favs.

I watched creep and creep 2 last night. Fucking awesome. I was so uncomfortable and couldn't stop laughing at how genuinely weirded out he made me feel. Dude plays a great endearing psychopath.

Rewatched The Prowler but synced with the We Hate Movies commentary. Some top-notch Tom Savini work but paired with a super slow pace. Forgot how sluggish it gets.
