I'm in the Valley and supposed to ship off soon, but if I'm around still, I'll definitely try and hit some of those. Mandy looks metal as fuck. MAXIMUM CAGE.

Can't find any Tales From The Darkside full episodes on Youtube

Holy fuck that Hereditary shirt is rad, but yeah $55 is way too much. Someone make a black and white boot with just the front image and sell it to me.

anybody seen The Void from 2016? its like a cross between lovecraft and clive barker. its also 99% practical effects and they go for it. take a look at that poster and you'll know if its for you.

The Void is fantastic. That is some good Canadian content. The director, Jeremy Gillespie, worked on The Shape of Water and IT and is working on IT: Chapter 2 as well. I believe he is the art director on all those projects. He has a great eye for effects.

Such a great movie. Reminds me a lot of John Carpenter stuff, definitely a loving tribute it could be seen as a tribute to an older way of making horror flicks in general. it reminds me more of the style of the 80s/early 90s than anything recent. without trying to be a throwback at all

Is Joe Hill's work any good? I have read all of Locke and Key I think, the original series. It was pretty decent, but I didn't love the art. Talented illustrator just not my thing. I know he writes novels and was wondering if anyone had a reccomendation. Does he compare to his father at all? I like most of his work. The short story collection he has is great. The name escapes me but it is worth reading for sure.

Suspiria got a 8 min standing ovations Venice Film Festival, but the response from critics have been polarizing. The ones who like it seem to love it though.

Finally got around to seeing The Devil's Candy this weekend. I thought it was good, but had similar complaints as other people in that the "metal" aspect of it felt really corny and unnecessary. It didn't really hold a candle to The Loved Ones, but it was still good. Kinda thought it should have ended about 5 minutes earlier though.
Also watched Mom & Dad, which was great. Nic Cage just going berserk, plus it's a movie about all parents trying to murder their children, how could that be anything but awesome? It's free on hulu (along with mother!) right now.

^Agree about The Devil's Candy. Visually and storyline-wise, it strikes the metal tone, but in terms of feel, it was definitely a suburbanized take on metal. Still enjoyable.

This is probably why I shut it off. All the Pantera fan imagery was so lame to me. That and I genuinely couldn't figure out what was going on.

Speaking of berserk Nic Cage, Mandy comes out next week. Yeah, I can’t wait. I assume it’ll be a somewhat limited release. Oh, later this month the indie theater is doing an all night marathon of Stephen King movies: Misery (35mm) “Mistery” screening (probably the mist) Maximum Overdrive (35mm) Pet Semetary Creepshow 2 Children of the Corn Carrie I’m kinda bummed they are showing Carrie last because I rarely make it all the way through these.

Terrifyer is on Netflix, you guys. I'm going to watch it with the babe tonight, so I'm not sure how much of it I'll be paying attention to but I'll report back shortly.

It also comes out on demand the day before Halloween. I'm seeing it on 9/11. They have 2 LA premiere showings and one of them had Nic Cage and the director doing an introduction, but that showing sold out fast so I bought a ticket for the later showing with only the director.

I genuinely thought they were going to make the fat kid the killer. i legit thought it was gonna be the neighbor girl or she was in on it, luring boys or some shit. idk, i thought they were trying to make it to obvious so there had to be a twist
