A friend of mine got to see an early screening of tha new Suspiria. Said it was really good and described tha violence to be very nasty. Yeah, apparently that one scene they were showing at festivals of tha puppetry dance number was gnarrrrrly He also called it his favorite movie he has seen this year.

Newest Puppet Master is going for a more comedic approach and S. Craig Zahler (Bone Tomahawk and Brawl on Cell Block 99) wrote this. They are having a premiere of it a week from today in LA with the most of the cast (Thomas Lennon and Udo Kier will be there) and I'm really tempted to buy a ticket for this. Leaning towards yes.

Always loved the Puppet Master series. Didn't know about the premiere, sounds like fun. S. Craig Zahler kinda reminds me of an up and coming John Carpenter with all the sharp genre work. Also, Barbara Crampton :)

They only announced it a couple days ago, but it's at the Egyptian Theater. Probably will end up going.

Is Joe Hill's work any good?
I have read all of Locke and Key I think, the original series.
It was pretty decent, but I didn't love the art. Talented illustrator just not my thing. I know he writes novels and was wondering if anyone had a reccomendation. Does he compare to his father at all?

The newest Pupper Master was quite fun. They had a Q+A with some of the cast including Thomas Lennon and Udo Kier. Jonah Ray moderated it. Udo Kier fucking killed the Q+A.

I want to see the new Puppet Master and can't wait for Dragged across Concrete. Sucks to live in Germany where most movies besides the big Hollywood productions and indie hits get released months later or not at all.

I believe that is based on an old script as well. I doubt he would write something like that and not direct it at this point in his career.

Zahler has said that it is an old script, he has sold quite a few scripts before he did Bone Tomahawk, many of the scripts have still remained to be unproduced. His next movie is playing at Venice Film Festival next month.

Do you guys think the Nun is going to be good? I loved the Conjuring 2. Alot. I'm optimistic. I'll certainly be there opening weekend. I really liked The Conjuring 2 also. A lot of that was for its character moments with Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson. Since they have another quality actor in Demian Bichir and the younger Farmiga I think they are at least trying.

Starting to work on my horror movie watchlist for the fall. Trying to watch a lot of stuff I haven't seen before and movies I haven't seen in over ten years I'd like to watch again.
Haven't subbed to Shudder in over a year, is it worth it yet or is their UI still hot garbage?

I normally don't like watching more than one trailer for a movie I'm hyped on, because trailers often give too much away, but I'm really tempted to watch that Suspiria trailer. For anyone who has watched it, does it seem like it gives anything away?

If you’re worried about it, don’t do it. Not really heavy on plot points or anything but definitely heavy on imagery and stuff.

Watched Hell Night w/ Linda Blair. Pretty good. It Follows score adds a tremendous amount to the movie and I think that’s always key. Favorite of recent movies. Plus The Guest, andddd You’re Next. Hell Night is my wife's favorite horror movie. I agree with you on It Follows. That's one of my fave horror movies post '00. I love the way they replicated the feel of an '80s movie, with the Carpenter like score, and the way it was filmed and edited. It even showed a lot of restraint, holding back the usual jump scares and loud noises, CGI etc, to make it as authentic as possible, while still not falling into a retro hole because the script was so fresh. Genuinely disturbing movie on top of it all. I wish more horror movies would hold back and rely more on suspense and dread. I've always been in the less is more camp. Loved The Witch, hated IT etc. Looking forward to Susperia. The Nun looks dumb to me.

Really enjoyed the teaser trailer for Suspiria. I'll just wait to see the movie and not see a bunch of spoilers in the new trailer.

I finally saw Hereditary. Shit fucked me up. One of my favorite horror films in awhile and definitely the most effective for me personally, in a few years. Absolutely relentless and I loved that as much as it was horrific psychologically and emotionally, it was willing to match that degree in a literal sense. Cults, demonology, cosmic horror. Need more of that. Anybody cop one of these dope ass shirts? $55 is mad hefty.

I got one of those shirts, bufoalvarius was involved with the making of that shirt Just bought a ticket for the LA Premiere of Mandy on 9/11 with the director in attendance. Also, any LA people should look into checking out Beyond Fest, a film fest that centers more on upcoming horror/extreme films and also screening classic films with certain cast members in attendance (Example: They had Suspiria with Dario Argento doing a Q+A last year). The lineup is being announced tomorrow morning. I've gone to showing the past 2 years that are a fucking blast.
