Man, I liked the first one ok then actively hated the next episode and Witch House. I may check out the two you mentioned.

Saw the 3D Dawn of the Dead thing tonight. Spent the whole entire movie thinking "I wish this wasn't in 3D and just the nice 4K print in IMAX or RPX or something" but then one scene happened and it made the whole thing worth it. Also, and this is a first and something I never thought would happen but, I think I prefer DAY of the Dead now to Dawn. Through no faults of DAWN - its great, perfect, an all-timer - I think I just like the chaos and minute to minute story/character progressions in DAY better now. Watched it back at the beginning of October and liked it more than I ever have. I'm not a gorehound, but the neck-rip where the dude screams and his pitch gets higher and higher as his vocal cords get a heave ho is probably the greatest practical gore moment ever.

I liked High Tension up to the real dumb twist at the end.
wen't into VHS 99 expecting to hate it, but it was OK. Two pretty good segments and the rest stinked.

I didn't really like Barbarian that much. I wen't into it with zero knowledge of the plot and I liked the first half quite a bit but the 2nd half lost me. Meh

Another decent french slasher film I haven't seen in a sick minute. Almost as disturbing, if not more than Frontiers was One of the first movies I saw when I started really getting into horror. It's a very gory and well filmed movie but the twist makes no sense. Still definitely worth a watch tho. |

WNUF at da ol Internet ArchiveNumba two: The sequel to the WNUF Halloween Special hits the nostalgia a bit too spot-on with the commercials. A fun movie that I can't believe isn't being talked about (same with the first one) Its up on the Internet Archive for the moment: archive.org/details/b-1-t-00_202209 The Viewing in the del Toro series was exceedingly boring. Graveyard Rats, Pickman's Model, and the Autopsy were the best of the bunch. Rawhead Rex: I could see there being a good film here, but this ain't it And the original Nosferatu is still a banger

THE AMITYVILLE HORROR - Is it possible this film is underrated? Kindertrauma always kept me from watching this after seeing scenes on cable tv growing up so I just seent it through beginning to end for the first time ever. Margot Kidder so great at being terrified. James Brolin getting to do what Jack does in The Shining a year later but on a much smaller scale. I had an idea of what this was, of course, but wasn’t really prepared for this many legit scares, this level of execution, and this many capital H Horror moments - especially in the end where it reminds you a little of Fulci’s eary 80s. It still hits creepy, and is the blueprint for so much modern horror, the good and the bad, the serious (A24) and the campy (aughts horror). The Vinegar Syndrome UHD looks great, like all their discs.
