I'm voting Claudia/Karina in 2024, and there is just about nothing that Democrats can do to ever win my trust back. I held my tongue in 2016, and didn't care anymore after Super Tuesday in 2020. I commend you all who are going to be voting for Biden to be able to stomach it. But I'm not voting for white supremacists anymore. That's it! Read their platform, lots of really bad half baked ideas. You can tell they’re just there to spoil.

Might vote Claudia/Karina in 2024 just because it's the farthest left gesture you can make and I live in California so Biden wins. I'm assuming the lack of detail on lot of elements of the program isn't a mistake, since it largely an advocacy/aspirational campaign. Like, yeah in an abstract, bird's eye view way, it is true that "the main obstacle standing in our way [of addressing climate change] is private profit, and the system that values quarterly revenue over the survival of human civilization." But when you zoom in on a particular industry or region, it's a lot more complicated. The supposed green jobs boom hasn't happened. Electrifying freight fleets is not so simple. Massive expansion of public transportation has as much to do with urban design as it does fleets and there's a national frontline worker shortage that is already complicating efforts to expand. A whole lot of of green aspirations are job killers in practice, etc., etc.
We need zero emissions tech fueling our transportation? So we'll need hydrogen pipelines? Cool! So, whose neighborhood is that going in?

Their agricultural plan sounds a lot like how the Soviets and Chinese starved themselves.

The Party's ultimate objective is to organize for the revolution. In that sense, yes, it's a spoiler campaign. But my vote goes much further in creating the kind of future that I want to see in this country than a vote for either mainstream candidate. And yeah, like Narc, I'm in solid-blue territory: New Jersey. I also have the option of registering to my work address to vote in NYC. There's literally no reason for me to vote for a Democrat unless I move. And if the dems see their numbers fall in the most devout of their strongholds, it's going to do a lot more than just voting for them again.

In terms of pure GDP, yes they country with over a billion people finally produces more than the country with about 350 million. It would be irrational to try to out produce them.
I was more so referring to the 20th century when both countries sought to establish agriculture more in line with socialist values and didn’t produce enough food to feed their populations.

I could rattle off a list of reasons as to what led to the Great Leap Forward, but it's clear to me that you've got some weird kind of western chauvinist thing going on here.
The fact in the matter is that China was an agrarian economy, Imperial Russia was barely industrialized, and the United States and Britain were sort of the 'gold standard' of industrialized economies in those days. In less than a century, "over a billion people finally" did what has taken us from 1790 until now. Maybe I need to check my math, but a billion people or not, accomplishing(and far surpassing) in 80 years what took us centuries to do is an impressive feat that is only possible under a socialist government ruled by a communist party.

These encampment counter-protest police videos are so sad. Especially when they let gangs of little Republicans do their dirty work for them. It's EXACTLY what wen't down in Peekskill in 1949 when police, fascist gangs, and local business owners orchestrated an attempted lynching of Paul Robeson. Union workers, concertgoers, communists, socialists, etc. were the ones linking arms and fighting back. www.trussel.com/hf/peekskill.htm This model for modern American fascist reaction is still being used today, except that maybe now everybody sees it? DISGUSTING country.

For the record Taiwan's per capita adjusted GDP is about 3x China's, if anyone is curious about where China would likely be at if capable people were in charge.

I mean, we're discussing China's GDP superiority in present day, right? Unless you're suggesting the US isn't applying themselves enough in the indentured servitude industry, I'm not seeing the comparison. And pretty sure we literally live in the same state a few hundred miles apart, benefiting from the same state-mandated education system, fwiw.
