Orrrrrr… there’s an extremely cynical and corrupt media and party apparatus desighned to suppress support for things like universal healthcare. That same apparatus has invested in anti-government rhetoric for decades, and the US federal government has gutted itself from within to ensure that it can never function in the ways that people need. I do not buy the reductive notion that there’s something special and intrinsic about Americans that makes them resistant to change or behave self-destructively. yes why I don't think it will change, but with new media podcast, new news shows that grip is shrinking, and duopoly system can't handle it. Also if you belive this you're voting for anyone?

The idea that "the US federal government has gutted itself from within to ensure that it can never function in the ways that people need" is simply false. It can and does do that. Same example I mentioned above: 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 673. I can find thousands of other examples.

Motherfuckers want a complete overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system, but those same people start screeching when you advocate market-pricing for parking their privately-owned vehicle. The latter is many times easier to do right here, right now. Loads of benefits. The visceral reaction -- as if it's a undue burden or takes away rights -- is telling. So, I just don't feel very optimistic about broad public support for taking the necessary steps to dramatically reform American foreign policy or healthcare or anything like that, but it's good that some people do.

26 million people still insured, and rest that have it can't afford the bills they get. Wow problem solved. Yes, a large part of that has to do with state governments. For example, whether or not you benefited from the 2014 Medicaid expansion thanks to the ACA depends on what state you live in. When I lived in Indiana in 2014, Medicaid did not help provide health insurance for my brother, who did not meet the absurd low income requirements and so on. However, I did get healthcare because of the 2014 Medicaid expansion when I did not have employer-provided healthcare when I moved to California in 2020. so they did what they did with abortion, they ran on rhetoric, about how important it was then didn't do it, and now the states decide who dies. Sounds republican

Sounds republican www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/3755/text - you are wrong, again. It was introduced in July 2021, it passed the house but not the senate. Then, again, in July 2022 it passed the house but not the senate. Senator Tammy Baldwin introduced the Women's Health Protection Act AGAIN in 2023.

We need the govt to step in and start regulating the size of cars, the brightness of their lights, etc.
Spending a week in England made me realize how stupid our trucks are.

Right? Because it is absolutely true that had Clinton won in 2016, Roe v. Wade would not have been overturned by the Supreme Court. 2) It would've cost political capital to codify Roe v. Wade in 2008 -- the likely outcome would have been a loss of Democrat seats in both houses and in state governments. I'm not saying that I like how all this works, but this is how it works.

It also creates a game theory type of situation where families are forced to get bigger cars because it'll increase their chances of surviving a car accident. What's bothersome about reckless driving is the only things that can stop it are 1. law enforcement (tickets) or 2. accidents (fatalities) and as someone who doesn't love law enforcement I'm not sure what can/should be done. Do we really need more cameras because people drive like fucking assholes?

I guess it's not for you nice typo. It is a "recline" for you because you're okay with Trump winning, whose ambassador to Israel described Jews who support a two-state solution to kapos. And Trump greenlit moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem. There is territory in Jerusalem that the UN considers to be unlawfully occupied by Israel. Could really go on and on.
