Apparently if the Democrats take the House, its within their legal rights to get Trump's taxes They can also be acquired through a civil suit stemming from that NY Post report.

I was seeing Fahrenheit 11/9 and they showed the Hawaii false alarm and the insanity that followed. Then people got today's and it was eerie. We already have a NWS and emergency alert system.

How was the movie? To be fair, upon further reading, this system was meant to be tested every 3 years. We can’t trust this administration though.

Pretty sure if Martial Law was ever declared, the small, white trash mountain town I live in would form a city militia. Can't say for sure if I'd join or not

Probably his darkest movie, only about 30% actually has to do with Trump. It was a bit disjointed here and there. A lot of people cried. It focused on how corporate Dems have been fucking over progressives and leftists. Flint water crisis. Parkland shooting. Waves of lefties running for office. Good bit on teacher strikes too. Last half hour was pretty harrowing. Basically saying the America we want has never existed and what is worth saving anymore? Total turn around from Where to Invade Next. He asked when can we stop and realize there is no turning back. Was it when your teacher aunt got a second job? When Obama took more money from Goldman Sachs? When we learned we do love our guns more than each other. That the Constitution, courts and Mueller won't save us and hope is meaningless, it's time to act. That there's nothing worth saving here. The last scene was brutal and definitely had a lump in my throat.

i was actually in an AT&T store when the test alarm wen't off. So there were about fucking 40 alarm noises and vibrations going off, which added to the annoyance of just being in a cell phone store.

I wish he expanded into how this was the inevitable result of right wing media and how they got to here. If you subject yourself to it long enough, you pick up on how individual events receive nonstop coverage, say the Steinle case, or the Ground Zero mosque, some college professor saying something ridiculous, etc. It's a feedback loop that radicalizes and purges. They're used to infuriate people to the point of demonizing and dehumanizing others. It compartmentalizes people into groups that ultimately become enemies. People then want horrifying solutions and demand Republicans to enact them. Retired GOP openly say this now, there is no way to fully satisfy these people, not even this level of cruelty to hurt or get rid of unwanted groups is enough. For a long time they couldn't do this and just ran on it to appeal to the energized base. When they didn't deliver, they were purged from the party, called RINOs and even more ridiculous grifters were elected. They can't fulfill these kind of demands and they won't magically go back to some Romney/Bush type when Trump doesn't deliver.

I think bringing up the photos of the lynchings was to show that we didn't "get there" as much as we've always "been there". Cruelty and the celebration of it in this country is as old as the country itself.

that's a completely valid point, and i think you can tie a direct line between the GOP's legislative efforts from the 80's onward and this sleeper army of right wing terrorists that we are cohabiting with today. its a positive feedback loop of fear, hate, and disgust.
the article was pointing out was how being cruel and vicious to the out-group is something that people (very fine people) need, want, and desire, which predates our current media landscape. i think that right wing media taps in to this instinct to develop their audience and the people that are attracted to it are inherently fearful, lack empathy, and are fundamentally broken. these people have always existed, Fox News or not. i grew up around them and i'm sure the children they are raising today are just as fucked up as they are.

That's true, for sure. It's still the same con of constant perception of threats with a sense of victimhood as a unifying narrative to tell a story of people who were fucked by the system they defend. That's been around forever.
What he points out correctly as the "loneliness and atomization" of these people IS the goal. Writing off large swaths of the population breeds the isolation and contempt which then drives this sick desire of "purification" ideology. It's a pretty disgusting form of brainwashing and people become addicted to the outrage and hate.
At a point when demographic change and support of liberal pluralism is pretty much inevitable and irreversible, there is now an effort to spread a heightened sense of emergency and need for immediate action to "save the white race".

As an outsider looking in, America seems fucked, the republican voters doesn't care about anything at all. I really hope this doesn't become a global trend.

well i know for a fact that the E911 accesses GPS. he said some wacky shit about it being able to access your entire phone, camera, etc, which isn't true. but yeah any of those alerts like Amber alert, FEMA or whatever, all use access to the E911 chip.
