Inflation was kicked off by serious supply chain disruptions. You can punish corporate greed all you want (and you should), but it doesn't make the effects of those disruptions go away like magic. Chassis manufacturers require subcomponents from at least 20 different vendors to make a single chassis, there's tariffs on chassis made in China so hard to get them from elsewhere, a lack of domestic production so hard to get them here, and then all the labor of people involved in doing all of that. And that's one piece of the entire puzzle. It's reasonable to think capitalism is bad but it's stupid to think it's not real. |

They were cheaper during Obama's last term and rose almost exponentially during Trump's. 74 cents difference between Obama's lowest price in 2nd term and the price before he left office. For Trump, they fell briefly to around $2.33/gallon two years after he took office before rising to nearly $3.00 again months later.
