so far as I can tell, every incumbent party across the globe that was in power during the covid / inflationary period was ousted. And, interestingly enough, the Democrats outperformed other incumbent parties substantially. This is great support for the realist camp!

The Trudeau Liberals were able to hold on to a minority government in the last election in August 2021 when inflation was rapidly climbing (although they will surely be annihilated in the next election in 2025)
