It’s okay to reluctantly vote Dem. I just do it the same way I pay bills. At least with Dems, you can occasionally get the funding to pursue a good project. I’m currently working on a project and I hope lefty faculty can see that it could work out well if they decide to take a hold of it n proactively govern it. Which is, by the way, way easier to explain to 35 year old millennials than 64 year old boomers. i’ll gladly take another term of biden if it means his pro-union dept of labor and NLRB stays in tact for another 4 years

I’m voting Trump in 2024 if Biden names Gary Gensler to treasury secretary. That SOB is the reason I’m not a millionaire

The fact that police/the GOP were able to convince everyone that they were defunded, makes me feel fucking insane.

Republicans literally cannot abandon Trump, and they will tell DeSantis to fall back. If they try to split from Trump right now, Trump has his finger over the panic switch and will blow up the entire party if they don't get behind him over DeSantis. The purpose of his little press release was to give them a little taste of how shameless he will be in a primary race. Trump will destroy DeSantis and remove him as a political figure for the future as he has to anyone who has dared to challenge him. DeSantis' only hope is to forestall a run for 2028. If Trump loses in 2024, he's done for good. I think Republicans hedge their bets on that rather than risk a schism and guaranteed loss in 2024.

I feel like literally all of these motherfuckers, even the ones with doublewides fully decked out in Trump flags, know it's a game and will happily jump ship if the tide fully turns. They'll act like they don't even know who Trump is and will never look back

Even pricing in Democrat incompetence the GOP is in trouble in 2024 regardless. Trump will get blown out again if he gets the nomination, and you're not getting the same appeal to white trash male voters with guys like Desantis, Hawley etc.

I feel like literally all of these motherfuckers, even the ones with doublewides fully decked out in Trump flags, know it's a game and will happily jump ship if the tide fully turns. They'll act like they don't even know who Trump is and will never look back I get why you would think this, but I think it's dead wrong. Trump only won in 2016 because he activates a group of people that had never participated in politics before, a white, undereducated, rural voter who buoyed his numbers in swing states, while the rank and file GOP base held their nose and voted anti-Clinton. That rabid new voter base now resembles a cult, and is loyal to Trump and only Trump. The rank and file GOP base showed in 2018, 2020, and 2022 showed they are not willing to hold their nose and vote for Trump anymore. The failures of his candidates in a year where (and I can't stress this enough) Republicans redistricted themselves an all but guaranteed House majority, is proof of that. If Trump doesn't run, he holds enough of the party hostage that no Republican wins. If he does run but runs opposed, he holds enough of a sway that he will ensure Republicans don't win and he will destroy several more careers of bright and promising young Republicans i.e. The future and that is their worst case scenario. If he runs and wins, he can't be president again, he paves rhe way for more Republican judges etc and helps achieve Republican goals for the next 4 years. If he runs and loses, the party can officially move on from him and possibly turn some of those Trump loyalists into lifetime red voters. They have been trying to do the latter for the last 6 years with varying degrees of success, with DeSantis being the most stark example. His star rises independently of Trump's. Remember he barely beat Andrew Gillum last time, both as relative newcomers, even with the fill force of a Trump endorsement. Trump was shit talking DeSantis for a calendar year and DeSantis annihilated Charlie Crist, a longtime Florida Dem with household name-style appeal. Like, annihilated him. Their best case scenario is to let Trump run unopposed and peter out one way or another. If Trump goes away, that loyal base goes with him.

They have a year to pull it together but the biggest take away is that none of gop winners have any pop moving out of the midterms. Nobody shined and most of the races that got spotlighted, they took sizeable Ls. While Ohio going red is nice, ga officially becoming a battleground state is problematic. FL is their crown jewel and desantis has no reason to fall behind trump. Trump doesn't share his war chest and leaves such a mess in wake that he's not useful as the face of the party. He's actually a net negative for the party bc he deflects his short comings on to the party and drags enemies and allies alike.
Its also worth noting that trump only beat hilary bc the dems (at best) botched the nomination proccess, alienating their own base and letting the gop run literally anyone that wasn't her, which hit that sweetspot to finally let libertarians vote for a guy that'll run the government like a business. He then squandered all his good will fucking around w phtto ops w jetski dealers and gassing protesters so he could hold up a bible. He then promptly lost to "that guy nobody actually likes but he does have a black friend." Dude does have the support of assholes and the mentally ill but that's not actually political clout.
Looking forward to this summer.

I think there's definitely a crop of conservatives who've been looking for a more "stable" pick than Trump, it's just been easier to toe the party line because it's been "Trump or nobody" for 4-6 years.
I think DeSantis has a chance due to Trump fatigue more than anything. You know a lot of these Republicans are fed up, they're just waiting for somebody else to say it first.

Not for nothing but Crist was a republican until like 2010 and has never won a statewide race as a dem. He basically strong arms his way through the primary with his own cash. He is and has always been a piss poor candidate. Gillum on the other hand was riding the same wave as the squad. Desantis also benefits from the recent transplants who were dumb enough to relocate to fl because of covid. I dont know what im getting at but I want it on the record that Crist is not beloved by florida dems. I used to knock on doors for my union hall and the chief complaint from the rank n file when the endorsements came down from above was how tf do you expect us to campaign for this dickhead when the last time we knocked on these doors was to campaign against him.

anecdotal, but every trumper i know also loves desantis and has the “trump desantis 2024” yard signs and truck stickers so i don’t think it matters too much to them who’s the republican nominee as long as they continue to make them feel good about being white

Sup w this Iran and 15k protestors being sentenced to death infographics being passed around? Only source I’ve seen is a Newsweek article and nothing in that article attributed any death sentencing to the Iranian parliament. Just that they voted in favor of non-specificed punishment as deterrent to other protestors. Like that could be death but the article says it as matter of fact without any sourced quoted that it is. If it’s a “could mean death” scenario they sure didn’t make it seem like just a possibility.
Also the infographics about the government saying they’re gonna rape the protestors before death sentencing so they don’t get into heaven feels like a vaguely racist/Islamophobic trope being peddled.
It could all be legit too, not ruling out of course, but feels like a lot of jumps and extrapolations from minimal stuff with a weird vibe about it.

I've only seen one was actually sentenced and the person allegedly set a building on fire. I think it's a tactic by the protesters to draw attention to what has largely turned into yesterday's news. I guess the majority of the protesters are still getting pretty stiff sentences even if they aren't being executed.

When I first read that my brain immediately wen't to what sort of wacky Looney Tunes logistics would have to to deal with that legally and also how to go about killing 15,000 people.
