Anyone following the scootsdale water thing? It’s hard to really get what’s going on based on the news stories about it, but it sounds like some dumbass built a subdivision in a dessert with a looming water crisis and expected scootsdale to provide water for them. The mayor stopped it and now they’re all acting like this is some injustice. Hard to have a ton of sympathy for people who moved to a desert during a water crisis. I guess they moved to the outskirts to avoid paying taxes and are now pissed that the city is saving its limited water for the people that pay for it with taxes. |

Idk the whole story but sounds like another example of people who want to reap collective society’s benefits but don’t want to contribute to collective society or be part of collective society and engage in individualist anti-social behavior. I would say they should all be cast out to the desert but they already are. Good riddance.

Hard to have a ton of sympathy for people who moved to a desert during a water crisis. From what I understand, the developers found a loop hole when it comes to creating communities. The way the law was written, if you had a plot of five or more homes of a certain size, that qualifies as a community so it needs to have direct access to utilities. The developers made all of these little communities just a hair under the sizing requirement, but put a bunch of them next to each other so in all other ways its a suburban town. Libertarian idiots loved the fact that they could skirt the system and bought them up for 500k+. Now the 1k residents of this non community cant drippini or drink water and are demanding government intervention. Sucks to suck. |
