I dunno, there’s this kind of revolution fetish some people have, even though there’s no real evidence to suggest that grand revolutions are frequently successful in their aims, and often the big change has already occurred prior to the revolution. More importantly, I don’t see how most or many aims people cite have anything to do with a “revolutionary” change in moral norms, political structures, etc.

Don't let the bourgeois media beat your revolutionary spirit out of you guys, I guarantee you that you only feel like a revolution cannot happen in our lifetime because of our propaganda landscape. The Revolution is not over. Two big new concepts I have been learning as part of my candidacy to join this national org I've been running with are:
A. Revolutionary optimism - I believe this is a term coined by this guy Andre Vltchek. From the Amazon description: "Communism and socialism are far from being defeated. One of the leading left-wing thinkers today, Andre Vltchek, in this collection of philosophical, revolutionary essays, explains why revolutionary optimism is so feared in the nihilistic West and, by taking us to all corners of the world, proves that people everywhere are still capable of dreaming, hoping and fighting for a much better world and for eternal ideals!" - I have not read this whole book yet, but I've read excerpts. Here is a cool video that sums up some of the concepts: B. Socialist reconstruction - there is a book by the aforementioned org I am joining by the same name, but this is a concept that organizers have been talking about since the Occupy days. Again, I have only read some of the essays from the book itself, the idea is that we ought to be discussing alternatives to capital and envisioning how we would use the means of production after seizing them to benefit society. There is an awesome essay in it analyzing the kind of logistics data that Amazon collects and how post revolution, you could use the bourgeois supply chain to make sure that people get not only the things they need to survive, but the things they need to really flourish and thrive(because Amazon already has massive amounts of data on peoples consumption habits). The kind of "fully developed" socialism that Karl Marx describes in the Manifesto envisions a socialism in a fully industrialized, probably western society. It would happen much more quickly here than it did in the 20th century in Russia and China and similar such countries because we already have an overabundance of industry, the likes of which eclipse what Marx could ever imagine. |

I've seen flyers for their stuff around town. I don't wanna go, but I feel like I should. I just like doing little tinkery things and political meetings give me the same feeling as career fairs n shit.
Anyhow, agents are actually content (or capable of it), but only because they have been prevented from developing certain desires which in the 'normal' course of things they would have developed, and which cannot be satisfied within the framework of the present social order.
Glad I got to type that up if only for the irritation it will cause pat to read it.
