Apparently the Democrats' 2024 strategy is culture wars, abortion, and Trump
So their strategy is the same for the last six years. At some point, they realize they actually have to do SOMETHING to benefit their voters, right?

To be fair they can coast on lowering the price of insulin, job growth, easing student loan payments, their COVID response/vaccine rollout vs Trump's and their support for Ukraine. It's not a lot but it's a lot better than Trump could attest to when he ran again.
The Dems strategy is basically gesture at the GOP and say "are you seeing this shit?"

Job growth means nothing in the context of wage stagnation (which is doubly worse in the face of inflation) and cost of living skyrocketing. It just means people are getting second jobs to survive. That's a bullshit stat.

That's a bullshit stat. Actual inflation and rising cost of living expenses has slowed substantially, people are partially just refusing to accept that market changed since the pandemic and their spending patterns have not changed. Even though the supply chain is back on line, companies aren't gunna roll back prices that people are still paying just so they can make less money. Bitching about how it's the governments responsibility to give me back the things I'm used to isn't how government works either.

ultimately it comes down to the economy. Dems can throw whatever stats and figures to the voters (that matter) but until they see it with their own eyes they wont believe it.

Democrats represent the prudent wing of the ruling class. As an organization, they might not do much that’s on the radar of childless bohemian thirty-somethings, but that’s not really a demographic that is as politically relevant as it thinks it is.
The GOP has become so stubbornly hard-rocking that they can’t even do normal ass quid pro quo self-interest stuff anymore. Shit, Jim Jordan’s opposition to the war in Ukraine is directly in contradiction to the economic health of his district, where one of the only major industries providing gainful employment is an arms factory. House GOP is conjuring up bizarre requirements for agency research departments. Go down to the local level and you’ll see the same shit: a small largely powerless transit agency like Indianapolis’s IndyGo had to argue with a dumbass state senator about what qualifies as tax dollars because he claimed that competitive federal grant money counts. It doesn’t and never has.
Democrats suck, but if you can’t tell the difference it’s because you know jack shit about how your government at the local, municipal, state, and federal level actually works.

That's a bullshit stat. Not saying it's a relevant stat, just saying what they're gonna say. It's just like Trump claiming he inherited a terrible economy: Not true but the people who WANTto believe it believe it.

Median wage growth has been the highest it has been since the late 1990’s during Biden’s term.
This “economy is horrible” narrative is largely driven by people’s political preferences. When you ask people how they themselves are doing they overwhelmingly answer positively.

I would say that shit sucks more than you would expect if you fall into certain demographics. If I were in my same situation but had more financial and personal responsibilities, I’d be screaming. My family’s healthy, though, and my girlfriend and I share a car (well will be sharing a car) that we use as little as possible.

It's been pretty eye opening to see in real time that the economy actually sucks MORE when more people are working, and that the system crumbles apart without high unemployment. Like, if the economy is only good when there is more human suffering, that's a pretty scathing indictment of the whole system, and Gen Z and Gen Alpha are becoming acutely aware of that.

There’s also workforce bottleneck that younger millennials and gen z are experiencing the brunt of. You’re, like, 22 and competing with the 35 year old version of yourself for the exact same jobs.

The NYT is running articles like "How living in your car makes housing affordable", but yes, the economy is fine.
