Yeah, I think it makes sense for a member of congress to vote for something that would wreak economic havoc on their district. Destroying your tax base is not something a person is going to willingly do without enough incentives.
Congress creates bullshit jobs that DON’T result in a solid reliable tax base all the time. That’s what the word “shovel-ready” means in infrastructure projects. Creating good jobs costs more money and steps on more toes. (Also means you don’t have to deal with unions, who push for upskilling and other things that are good and we desperately need more of)

Economic havoc has already riddled these districts. A representative vote in these areas is to run back and do the MAVERICK grift just to get a little bit more into dead projects. Wet blanket nuance isn't winning against promising bluster regardless of its insanity and/or validity.
Split vote local Dems then going for Republican Senate/President is something we live with. They'll vote Trump and vote for Pro-Choice in a state referendum when they have actual policies on the table.
It's lib stuff. You already moved your base to consolidate in the city when minorities are looking to the suburbs. They always place economics first. Trump GAINED votes in these demographics and the Democratic base response is that these people are stupid? No, they became individuals in this country and it's dog eat dog. They're looking out for themselves.
There's a huge thing now among Dems that "Well Muslims were already anti LGBT, abortion, etc. anyway." If they voice discontent against an administration that doesn't stand up against apartheid it's immediately turn their back on them and that's what they've always done. No universal policies. No vision.
It's really not that hard to see. Liberals are basically the clipboard dork talking to the coach and forgetting they're losing to Air Bud.

There's a huge thing now among Dems that "Well Muslims were already anti LGBT, abortion, etc. anyway” Hilarious how quick they are to do this to Muslims but not to southern blacks or Latinos even though both of those things are also true for them. It’s because Muslims aren’t a big enough voting bloc and they can make example of them to the white liberals that they’re “trimming the fat”. This party deserves everything that finds them.

Corruption, mismanagement, and the overall way the system has evolved play a big role, but U.S. political problems have a lot to do with what the average person wants and the lifestyle they want to achieve/preserve

That’s probably easier than, you know, going to any sort of policy meeting or putting together a white paper for state or federal legislative review, at which point you would see that I’m right.

I finally watched that Senate fucking video and can't stop laughing.
Just Tucker Carlson talking about J6 and "Wow, what's going on? Those elites in the mainstream media want you to focus on the so called insurrection, but have you seen the insertion?"

Here comes the worst post yet I should be able to live in a detached single-family home with a two car garage with two five seater cars and drive fifteen miles on a freeway to a grocery store that has all items all year round (and parking is always free). If the local, state, or federal government tries to do something I don’t like, I should be free to sue them — in fact, I have the right to sue anyone anytime I please! My neighborhood shouldn’t have any industries or shit like that I don’t like. Those are for poor neighborhoods, which will also bare the brunt of the tire debris and exhaust from my daily commute in the largest vehicle I can drive off the lot. I should get to enjoy the fruits of cheap immigrant labor, as so long as they don’t get to reap any benefits of my hard earned tax dollars. I should be able start my own business and easily evade taxation, and fuck the government if they try to tell I have to use concrete instead of plastic pipes! And I want a million different restaurants, but no ugly high rise apartments for the workers that bring down my property value! Oh, and I have a RIGHT to have a grass lawn, too! It’s the damn elites who are the problem — I’m MIDDLE class.

Go into any city and walk around aimlessly until you get hit by a city bus. Since all social ties have been destroyed and litigation has filled that void, get a sweet ass settlement and it's tender benders forever baby.

Democrats have always had the deck stacked against them because their voters tend to be better educated. This thread is sort of a microcosm of the modern democrat; we expect results from our elected representatives and vote (if you vote that is) for them to accomplish specific policy goals, and expect way more than the political system has traditionally been willing or able to deliver on. Republicans vote for Republicans to keep Democrats out. Republicans don't have to deliver on shit. That's why they have such a solid immovable base, and dems always seem fractured. We're not a monolith. But neither, demographically is enough to vote either party into office.
Truly this whole conversation misses the real problem, which is that the majority of people that decide elections don't vote based on ideology. Those people got Biden into the White House; they are people who blame the president or "ruling" party for everything bad and vote the opposite party of the one in power. The illusive "Obama-Trump" voter. It doesn't matter one fucking iota if Democrats accomplished all the policy goals they set out to, because if the economy sucks (or even people think it sucks even when it's good) they're gone. It's naive to think that all Democrats would have to do is accomplish their policy goals and they would stay in power. It's also naive to think that democrats (or any party) appealing to a progressive minority would ever stay in power. The democratic party is a big ass tent, and you would have to be truly siloed to think that progressive politics (while certainly growing) represents a political majority. There is a political reality that James never seems to fully grasp, and always results in the conclusion that the whole thing needs to be blown up. It's Fight Club-level analysis.

“Republicans don’t have to deliver on shit”
OH THATS WHY THEY OVERTURNED ROE V WADE DESPITE NOT HOLDING CONTROL OF THE WHITE HOUSE OR CONGRESS. They did that cause they were just bored, for kicks. And democrats… used it to pimp people for votes and money. They’re still doing it. That’s what the democrats are. A scam to bilk people’s hope for money and votes long enough for them to fuck off into lobbyist or cable news roles. They do not give a shit about effectuating anything.

Honestly your whole rant is deluded. You sound like one of those reductive liberal ideologues who talks about this shit at wine parties where none of the issues actually affects you whatsoever.
Of course you listen to pod save America.

The bar is set far far higher for Democrats. Meanwhile, there is absolutely zero bar for Republicans. Trump mishandling COVID and still almost sneaking back in for another term proved that to anybody who still had doubts prior to 2020.
I mean, this fool quite literally killed the people who probably would've swung the 2020 election in his favor in places like Georgia.

Why would you need control of the White House or Congress to overturn a supreme court case…? I think that even the most craven of democratic establishment figures very much didn’t want Roe v. Wade overturned. The idea that there’s something morally questionable about democrats fundraising on that issue is straight up John Joseph twitter tier bullshit.

Explain how voting democrat protects the right to choose.
Where. How.
There’s no plan.
Just stay outraged. Protest. Donate. Vote. Repeat.
BECAUSE ITS A SCAM

Also saying “governing is so complicated” doesn’t work in a post-trump world. He actually made it insanely clear that governing is wildly easy. It’s just a matter of what you want to do. The democrats want to do nothing so they hide behind the lie of “complicated governance” that worked under Obama but no longer works because trump illuminated it’s bullshit.

I know reading is hard for you, but I said they dont HAVE to. Not that they don't deliver on shit. Trump rode a populist wave into office and did not one single fucking thing for the people who got him into office. Not one fucking thing. He passed the Paul Ryan tax bill. Not one person who voted for Trump gave a single shit that he did nothing for them. It's not worth engaging with you at all because, a) you're a narcissist and you don't read what other people have to say, it's just a jumping off point for more inane garbage, and b) you do this every time and it's basically rote by this point. Nothing you say has any value, not that what I say does, but what you say CERTAINLY doesn't. Suck my ass, acoustic bitch.

Yeah, it made it clear how simple it is Especially when his team halfassedly imposed steel tariffs, which kicked off the supply chain crisis.

that's probably because trump didn't have to do a single thing for the people that elected him other than continuously validate them. he also essentially redefined conservatism in america and ushered in a new generation of young conservatives. if you want to get technical, he did appoint the supreme court justices which then used their influence to overturned roe v. wade.
