That actually rings true for harm reduction reasons. A lot of well meaning people do the right thing for the right reason. Until they don't. Someone much smarter than me would have to explain how having a super majority always resulting in an "Aww shucks, maybe next time!" watered down policy positions? We must constantly pass weak policy to appease a handful of votes because something is better than nothing? A few districts that legacy vote end up hamstringing Federal policies that would benefit their own constituents. Why does that keep happening? It's almost like when the public option debate was DOA when they found out we'd shitcan bloated bullshit admin jobs. Stay winning though. Yeah, people voting for Trump were always going to be the loudest about their pick. Hardly anyone was slapping "Biden/Harris 2020" stickers on their cars in the leadup to the last election either.
Israel and the economy are going to be what buries Biden if things don't change. He's already started to softly pivot from an "unwavering commitment" to Israel's cause (in the face of growing negative public apinion across young voters in his base, of course). Meanwhile the average voter doesn't recognize we're producing more gas than at any point in our history, or that job creation has topped pre-pandemic levels. They just see how much they're paying for a Big Mac now or some stupid shit.
