It's been almost a decade of the liberal fantasy of Trump behind bars. Frantically going through the legal system to keep the bad man down is actually what fuels his base. He sold t shirts of his mugshot and auctioned off pieces of his suit. It's all Air Bud.
They're motivated by a very goofy sense of spite and that is so indulgent.
The strategy of kicking him off the ballot will result in him getting 10x more write in votes than Debs in actual prison. I mean, there's ultimately a lot of truth to that, but at the end of the day: Trump 100% thumbed his nose at the law and standard democratic process. Regardless of how you feel about the guy, he was going to have to be taken to task for this shit one way or another. To simply let him continue on with his bullshit and just shrug your shoulders cuz "lol that's just Trump!" would be just as ridiculous as anything else. At the end of the day if he doesn't meet the qualifications to run, he shouldn't be able to run. Same goes for Biden if he were to ever get linked with this Hunter Biden nonsense (spoiler: he won't).
And he can't be written in as a nominee either, they've been very clear about that.

I just feel like it's important to hold Trump to o-count regardless of result. Are some of these rulings and court cases being wielded like some sorta political cudgel by dems? Totally, but like... we're just supposed to let people try and force-fuck fake electors into the equation and pull all kinds of shenanigans because calling them on it might boost their poll numbers 11 months away from a national election?
I'm as concerned about the possibility of a second Trump term as anybody but I'm a lot more concerned about the precedent involved in allowing someone to just get away with shit simply because we're fatigued by a near-decade of their hijinks.

That's always been a clear projection of weaponizing the DOJ aligned with the conservative project of judiciary capture. The one thing about conservatives, for all their faults, is that they do actually believe all this dogshit and are hard-rocking about literal translations.
