That's always been a clear projection of weaponizing the DOJ aligned with the conservative project of judiciary capture. The one thing about conservatives, for all their faults, is that they do actually believe all this dogshit and are hard-rocking about literal translations. They read things literally and their sense of principle prevents them from of critical thinking. It's their death knell. That's why the true believers are a far more dangerous base and voting block amongst the party. They harnessed and unleashed the carnies but can't contain them. The grifters and goofballs seep in. Actual political power laugh in private but yeesh. There's a symbiotic relationship between how liberals and yes, idiots, view Trump. this isn’t true at all, though. they’re not literal at all. their reading comprehension is whatever fits their narrative and they’re stubborn as the day is long and will go pretzel brain to prove their point no matter how dogshit and wrong it is

There's a large portion of people who vote opposite of whatever party is in control. They watch local news.
That whole era of NYT/Vice style "let's actually talk to these people" never got to the core root that their entire political framework is petty mad about everything.
Like when the ACA was debated and they said they'd rather die than live under government tyranny control of Medicare.
I love talking to them but 3 questions in and it's soooooo silly.
Inflation = Biden. COVID = Fauci. Gaza = God's plan.
They're still debating if Michelle Obama is a man.

It's why every issue is convoluted but the outcome is the same. Back the blue vs. anti police always comes back to Ruby Ridge and Waco. It is a huge rift but fascinating. The constitutionalists and evangelicals cherry pick what to take literal and become hermetically sealed into this becoming a foundation of their life. Again another projection of anti identity politics but actually make an identity of this dumb shit expressed through bumper stickers, t shirts and merch. The actual law programs and economic interests do not care about any of this. It's niche idiocy.

That is crazy. If someone asked me when that happened I would have guessed like two years ago.

It's crazy to think that the Chinese balloon incident was only this year. Extremely innocent and funny but a rare Stellar Eagle was blown into the continental U.S. at the same time. It was a huge story among ornithologists. Birders and meteorologists immediately knew what was going on and simply moved on.

There's apparently been one in Maine for the past three months. Maine just decided to remove Trump from the ballot. What's the connection?

Data has shown that Trump's legal trouble has actually helped boost favorability, especially among demographics who tend to feel that the court system is rigged against them. I think he already had the divorced white guy vote.

Birders and meteorologists immediately knew what was going on and simply moved on. can you explain this for non-nerds like me An entire country of clickbait hard-rockers who think the U.S. Military is 100% impervious #1 all time fell for the same idea that Chinese stuff is junk but somehow their super secret technology that traveled the entire Pacific past all our Navy, USAF, FAA radar was sent to spy on us via a weather balloon. Bunch of birders were looking at weather patterns and said "Hey, there might be a non zero chance some rare species get blown our way." It did and caused a huge expedition to document the Steller Sea Eagle. It did end up in Maine. It's also very funny in the bird world how many old names have no real meaning. They were kind of in a Christopher Columbus name it after whoever was in power while you found it. It made it very difficult taxonomically for common name identification. Not a peep of woke mind virus but everyone everywhere (yes even the MAGA) pretty much agreed this was a stupid system and it was time to change them. Another example how material real world things bypass dumb shit.

There is tons of historical precedent to show that prosecuting politicians only helps them in the long run even when they're guilty

There is tons of historical precedent to show that prosecuting politicians only helps them in the long run even when they're guilty The victim mentality projection is perfectly summed up by State Farm commercials. Right wing AM radio was sooo mad Jake "Uhh Khaki's" from one single ad was replaced by a black guy. All these goons who said they would never watch the NFL again were crying about the commercials Christmas Eve. It's so funny to hear them talk about January 6th as not being as bad as the George Floyd protests. Then the entire argument dies and try to say they're so stupid the FBI, Antifa, BLM tricked all of them into storming the Capitol. 🤷🏻♂️

Also… trump was literally never convicted of anything. Throwing him off the ballot is setting a realllllly bad precedent.

Also… trump was literally never convicted of anything. Throwing him off the ballot is setting a realllllly bad precedent. The argument is he didn't have to be convicted of it. Just as these apparent legal purists on the right cite the constitutions verbiage in their favor, democrats also say, "nowhere in the constitution does it say the president has to be convicted in a court of law as an insurrectionist in order to be formally disqualified from running." The Supreme Court is gonna have to settle all of this, and until they do this is all conjecture.

The Colorado and Maine decisions won't stand, but I wish they would so we could learn how Hunter's laptop and the Corn Pop story are insurrection in Wyoming and Mobilehoma.

The gop can now use what the democrats are doing with trump and the ballot as foundation for some wild shit.

I just always gotta go back to: Imagine if any of this happened to Clinton or, even worse, Obama. Just one of these things. Forget the 91 charges and multiple indictments and two impeachments. Let's pretend one recent democratic president was kicked off a ballot over the belief that they spurred an insurrection.
Whether it were true or not, simply the OPTICS of it POSSIBLY being true would have gravy seals and the Michigan militia marching in the streets.
