I'm glad we could have Facebook feed-level political discourse once again. I was getting worried. My Facebook friends aren't even talking about the election, this place is definitely worse

They're probably behind some of the millions of views this thread gets, but are too scared to join our learned discourse.

Which page has the learned discourse? If you search the word "idiot" there are more than 20 pages of posts.

did some searches of this thread to find something funny and it's unreal that some of you are still convinced that pat is/was some sort of polymath genius and not some moderately intelligent guy with seething petulant contempt for anything he doesn't immediately grasp or take an interest in.

Sending this to everyone who's been annoying online lately Except there is no indication that anything is actually being done to enact a ceasefire. Vote for Harris, fine, but let’s not pretend that she is offering anything other than slogans on this specific issue.

I liked the line that Michelle Obama used about the “affirmative action of generational wealth”.

I don't expect them to do anything until after the election because she's not the sitting president and aside from Cheney VP's don't do shit except make promises.

Harris will do absolutely nothing with any positive impact in Gaza, that is an impossible venture for western "establishment liberals". It's not so much that they lack political will, they fundamentally lack the desire to do so.
I can empathize with the relief people feel at a real positive shot at having a functioning brain stem in office, and I can understand the ensuing zeitgeist that follows. I'll certainly take a piece of shit amenable to some good policy to a thoroughly corrupt, objectively amoral piece of shit any day, but those conditional victories won't come in the form of anything related to the middle east.

This is all speculative. You have no way of actually knowing if anyone "lacks the desire to do so." I honestly don't know what else people are expecting out of a political campaign besides making statements of what they'll do if elected. Prior to a few months ago almost nobody even knew how dire the situation was overseas. It's an entirely different discussion now so if a candidate says they'll do what I want them to do I will take my chances.

I'd obviously love to elect somebody and have it wind up like Kevin Kline in "Dave" inviting Charles Grodin over to solve the national debt in one marathon session, but it's just not realistic. I do think Harris' probably has a bit more wiggle room to test the parameters of the US relationship with Israel simply because she isn't in her 70s with three decades of foreign policy work and all those requisite relationships under her belt. Whether she actually does it is something else entirely.

Of course it's speculative. It's speculation based on decades of American foreign policy, and "liberal" (in)action. Policy in the middle east is a major element of American power (and thus identity lolz). There is simply too much wrapped up in being buddy buddy with Israel for anyone with any power of the kind that would be required to do anything, to do anything. That's the political will issue, there's also the desire issue. Which is one Harris, or just about anyone else (with any kind of influence) within that administration or any other has never demonstrated much of. And that's without even touching the Israel lobby which has been consistently successful in maintaining the narrative among powerful and influential people and voting blocs that Israel has the right (and the need) to butcher civilians. I don't really think "anything is possible" is really a great response to a consistent pattern of "we actually don't give a shit".

No comment on BRT from the crustache guy. I thought this crustache guy was really concerned about the plight of immigrants and undocumented people in this country? In many parts of the country, undocumented people are unable to legally operate a private vehicle and many older immigrants do not have a driver's license even if they have legal status, and BRT is a cost-effective and quick way to make substantial improvements in public transit. Odd! I would make coming country easy pathway to citizenship is insane. I want them legal as much as you bc I don't want them taken advantage of by the bosses. I was busy wondering why you support people who gaslight this x.com/gazanotice/status/1826400028019282186?t=b1ecIaiErliSxl7zczQwZQ&s=19

as far as "solvable problems" there's probably shit I care more about than the middle east quagmire, but trying to position someone who is and has been an organ of the state as someone capable and/or interested in even attempting to resolve that conflict just seems like real wishful thinking. that's not insurrectionist, that's just years of history and politics.
Kamala Harris is a politician, and thus should be fed to the sharks. In the meantime, I'll take the abortion protection and maybe some reduced drug costs and trains and stuff.

Sounds like you're talking about the next prez cutting ties with Israel and not what they're actually saying they'll do. Israel would not even exist without the US. So making any sort of unilateral move like that is going to take many more years of pushing than the couple months since most people found about about this problem. A few years ago calling for a ceasefire would have been political suicide. Plus most voters did not give a shit. It just hasn't been a priority for either of the two major parties here. The fact a US candidate with a shot at winning is even saying this is unprecedented. I'll take my chances.

At the end of the day one intentionally got rid of abortion access and wants to make you pay for weather reports. Since voting for either one does not automatically stop a genocide happening with my tax dollars, I believe I will simply vote for the one that doesn't want trans people dead and children working in mines.

I asked you about BRT. You keep posting gore links from Twitter so I’m not clicking what is probably also a gore link.
