It also creates a game theory type of situation where families are forced to get bigger cars because it'll increase their chances of surviving a car accident. What's bothersome about reckless driving is the only things that can stop it are 1. law enforcement (tickets) or 2. accidents (fatalities) and as someone who doesn't love law enforcement I'm not sure what can/should be done. Do we really need more cameras because people drive like fucking assholes? ah hell yeah dawg you're in my wheelhouse now. First, we should outlaw right-on-red in most circumstances. We also need to design streets to discourage lower speeds at a structural level. There are many strategies for doing so. You can pry my right on red from my cold dead hands pal! |

Orrrrrr… there’s an extremely cynical and corrupt media and party apparatus desighned to suppress support for things like universal healthcare. That same apparatus has invested in anti-government rhetoric for decades, and the US federal government has gutted itself from within to ensure that it can never function in the ways that people need. I do not buy the reductive notion that there’s something special and intrinsic about Americans that makes them resistant to change or behave self-destructively.
