What I will say about the next couple years is, whoever wins, it’s probably not gonna be even the GOP of the Biden era. The base believes so many insane things, the old guard are mostly gone or will be gone, with a almost exclusively monsters left in office. We all hate Mitch McConnell cuz he was just an old and calculating political animal who who couldn’t give a fuck about the rules. But he came from an era in which conservatives believed in the American project and a higher calling or whatever. Pain and emotional release weren’t the driving forces behind the machinations. Best case is Harris wins by a wide enough margin in four years to allow some room for any remaining adults to start reforming the shit show and ostracizing freaks. we should actually outlaw the republican party and put all of them in reeducation camps

Elbit recently shut down their Cambridge MA office after it was picketed non stop and people picketed the home of the property owner, etc. Also listened to an interview recently with Ola who runs Quality Control records and was in Game, Arms Race and some others and she was arrested for sabotaging an Elbit factory in the UK with Palestine Action. Makes me like that label even more.

Biden choosing not to run in 2016 was a huge inflection point in American history. There's a good chance Trump loses bad and either fades into obscurity or fucks off to start his own version of Fox news, which was supposedly his real goal when choosing to run in the first place. I thought it was obama who got him not to run

When I look back on it it's still unbelievable Trump won because at no point did he seem like a serious candidate. Hillary was the career politician and seemed like a sensible choice in a lot of ways. At the same time, has a presidential favorite ever been as widely disliked as her? You can blame that on misogyny or fear of change or whatever you want, but ultimately people just did not want to vote for her. you can also blame the dnc screwing bernie

Bernie probably would’ve lost had he won the nomination. He would have cleaned up in a fair fight, but there’s no way capital was going to let that happen.

It’s really hard to argue that his proposals are a “threat to capital.” It’s left of the general consensus, but it’s hard to say that the items he and other progressives actually succeeded in getting into recent legislation (IRA and IIJA) amount to a “threat to capital.” It’s a threat to some groups of capitalists, but a boon to some (plenty of capitalists want to get in on Green Energy — and they have increasingly done so). I’m glad he ran twice and did as well as he did and succeeded in making his group far more influential and powerful than it was before. There would’ve been a huge mail, tv, radio, and social media campaign to frame the election as Socialism Versus Freedom. And then, he would lose.

Mocking the fact that she smiles a lot(?) apparently. Their whole "vibes" pushback and issue with her laughing is such a weird hill to die on lol.

So we’re in agreement If “capital” includes people who are clearly not capitalists (or are at most petit bourgeois). I don’t think that larges swath of the US population needs to be convinced that they think socialism is bad, they just need to be mobilized and energized to vote. Republicans at the state and national level to do pretty well when they tell voters that Democrats are going to take away your gas stove and your truck and your single-family zoning.

Finding comfort in early voting is foolish, but it is at least good to see so many women showing up already and seeing how Trump world is already panicking and laying the “stolen election” groundwork in PA

“I’m gonna be the protector of women, whether you like it or not” is such an insane public statement for dude to make five days out from Election Day. Women already didn’t like you and your grope-y estranged uncle energy before, and now you’re threatening to be their protector?
