Well, it's either forces of capital and capitalists or it's not. Bernie Sanders may have Marxist and revolutionary socialist/communist sympathies, but he hasn't run or governed as a a Marxist or a revolutionary socialist.

Narc I generally have a hard time understanding your posts in this thread but I'm completely lost with this one. You said Bernie would've lost to trump, I'm saying he wouldn't. Whatever happened next happened after 4 years of trump, I don't get it

Do you really think it’d be easier on him in a general election?

Whatever happened next happened after 4 years of trump, I don't get it The Biden administration and the Democratic Party adopted and passed legislation that very obviously reflects goals asserted by the Bernie Sanders campaign and other progressives. If card-carrying progressives are this massive coalition that can change the course of an election, then it seems very odd that the race between Biden and Trump and now Harris and Trump is somehow very close. Either (a) the progressive coalition is small or (b) they do not vote. Or both! Or, there's some other reason that they do not turn out, despite being a massive coalition of active voters. But that still doesn't make sense, because then Trump ought to have a greater lead than he does.

So, hard-rocking construction workers are a fickle group of people who are not reliable voters and only liked Bernie because of his rhetorical and aesthetic appeal, and don't actually care about the policies? And the Democratic Party would be wise to cater to those people if they want to be consistently competitive in national elections? That doesn't add up. On top of the fact that Sanders didn't win the nomination and was never on track to do so. And I wish he was.

A lot of people liked Bernie because a bird landed on his podium, he wanted to decriminalize + tax marijuana, and he was in favor of a universal wage. I mean, let's be honest. He was just sort of another version of the Obama thing, and although both had a lot of strong policies and apinions that clearly won a ton of favor with people, we're still talking about a lot of "average voter" types who routinely vote off gut, whether they like you or not, or whether they feel like getting swept up in a larger movement that particular election year.
Unless you were bunkered in deep MAGA/conservative world, it was pretty tough to escape the Bernie fellating across social media platforms and most left leaning media. I assume a lot of your average voters just had "Bernie good, Bernie different" hammered into their head so much, they just kinda fell for Bernie like they'd similarly fall for another polarizing figure like RFK Jr, you know?

Also don't discount the power of dumb people being contrarians solely for the sake of being contrarians.

He prolly had trade union endorsements because his tax policies helped to ensure lots of union bosses would continue seeing sizable tax breaks for the foreseeable future. Dudes entire strategy for anything is leveraging any future assets through some sort of loose language quid pro quo thing behind closed doors.
And the loose language is obviously all intentional, as we're starting to see in these court documents. He intentionally speaks in that word salad mob boss shorthand so he can play dumb during questioning and say he never actually said anything bad. Beautiful phone call.

It was more than likely immigration. Unions hate non-organized cheap labor. That effects their bottom line more than anything.

man how do they not realize that nobody wants to hear them attempt to justify what’s going on in gaza It's stuff like this that really shines a spotlight on how little dems listen to people younger than like... 45. Because any first year college kid could explain why they hate that the US is involved in what Israel is doing.
