Younger zoomers don't understand that this almost singlehandedly got Obama elected. I am onto something here. You are absolutely right. I remember being a kid in the rural south in the 90s, my friends super right wing grandma voted for Clinton, she would tell everyone it's because of his "cute butt". Many such cases. |

2020 was also just the most accessible election in history. you could pretty much vote whenever/wherever/however you wanted. and obviously like a lot of pandemic protections the pushback against that has been massive.

In all seriousness, it looks like Biden will have gotten like 14 MILLION (!) more votes than Harris did. She inherited his campaign war chest, they spent over $1.4B just in political ads, and who knows how much more in staffing and administrative stuff. Like how is that differential possible? I'm not smart but that makes zero sense to me. Old school ground games don't work in presidential campaigns. Democrats need to go all in on a digital media apparatus. Not cable news but a lib/left version of The Daily Wire, podcasts etc. You have the infrastructure with a ton of prog/lib stuff like Jacobian..consolidate it. Build bridges. Recenter what liberalism is in the U.S. Conservatives are the true enemy. Yeah they sort of have that: Young Turks, H3H3, Hassaan, Destiny, zoomer TikTokers like Harry Sisson. Frankly a lot of them suck to me but they have a ton of reach. But I agree they need like a non cringe/awful version of Daily Wire, Rogan, Turning Point. FWIW so much of right wing media has exploded on TikTok as a calculated retaliation of Dems wanting to shut it down. Facebook also massively promotes that stuff. They need to be regulated, like network TV has to give both candidates equal time but social media algos can completely skew it to the side most favorable to them, it's dumb. |

i said this earlier but voter turnout in 2020 is going to forever be an anomaly It was literally just because of how insane Trump’s presidency was that it spurred that many people to vote. Things go back to meh under Biden and once again you get back to the status quo of political apathy. |

If there's any silver lining it's how dysfunctional the Repubs are, "Reagan Republicans" hate the MAGA stuff, they had a majority in 2016 and almost everything he tried to push through stalled out, couldn't even get his wall. I could see more of the same in store, Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell types dragging their feet behind the scenes. |
