no one currently likes their health insurance Hey, man, just let me know the position the union leadership takes on M4A when it inevitably comes to a vote because everyone likes the idea so much! why wouldn’t we? currently 27% of our benefits package goes to healthcare. give us universal healthcare and we can allocate that money to our pension or annuity etc or just eliminate it from employer cost and lower our overall rate and make it easier to compete with non union contractors. either way, we win

Why can't you figure out the answer to the question that I did ask? i honestly don’t know what you’re asking Let's start over. Apparently, Medicare For All is massively popular and a surefire win electorally. Not only is it a good idea, but supposedly it is extremely popular. Yet, even when you do witness some supportive rhetoric, you don't see substance aside from the usual slew of organizations. Instead, what you do see from organized labor is either (1) endorsement of candidate regardless of M4A support or (2) endorsement of candidate because of opposition to M4A. Why is that the case?

I don't think we should lie to voters or blame them. The American working class is unique in that we haven't had a viable party for and by the working class even though our labor movement was at a time at the forefront of world-historical class struggle. Voters today are left to either vote for a "lesser evil" or usher in outright bigotry dividing us along race, gender, class lines. The solution is to build the party of the working class and lay bare the conditions we live in. To do otherwise is to play in the bourgeois sandbox of childish individualism. -Sofia Lenin
and then everybody clapped
Honestly everyone involved in the CPUSA needs to just dissolve it and give it a new name. Call it the American Free Citizens party and slap a fat bald eagle on red white and blue flag instead of a hammer & sickle, and you’ll prob have much better luck. “Communist” will always be too much of a non-starter of a word in this country that prob 90% of people who’d be interested in the positions off the bat turn away due to name and aesthetic. It’s a political slur so I don’t see how it could expect to have real effect in the political forum at large.

Waiting for the surefire leftwing presidential campaign. I want to start talking about wealth redistribution. With the arrest, seizure and equal distribution of just two people's assets, we can turn this nation of temporarily embarrassed millionaires into a nation of actual billionaires. Motherfuckers bitching about 600 bux for four years gunna go apeshit

What does a protest vote have to do with this- it’s literally the administration that’s currently in power that has bankrolled and aided this genocide. I do not think Trump will be any better whatsoever but this has nothing to do with a protest vote.

Mike huckabee nominated for us ambassador for israel "Donald Trump has chosen the former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee as the next US ambassador to Israel. Huckabee has a track record of hardline, occasionally provocative, pro-Israel rhetoric and previously said Israel has a rightful claim to the West Bank, which he refers to by its Hebrew and biblical name of Judea and Samaria. The territory is claimed by Palestinians as part of a putative future state but is dotted multiple Israeli settlements that are not recognised under international law. Huckabee has refused to call the settlements by that name, insisting that they be called “communities” or neighbourhoods. He has also denied that the West Bank, seized by Israel from Jordan in the 1967 six-day war, is under military occupation." www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/nov/12/trump-appoints-mike-huckabee-ambassador-israel

I think that a lot of Americans don’t give a shit about Gaza. But even for people who don’t care about the morality of the situation, sending billions towards a war while simultaneously saying they are working for a ceasefire did not help the Dems cause. Especially while everyone is feeling the effects of inflation, etc. I think this thread underestimates how large the "I hope they all kill each other" contingency is in the United States regarding Gaza. I think a lot, if not a majority, of Americans just don't want their tax money being spent over there on either side. I agree and I think that people were willing to take a chance on Trump maybe “ending” those foreign wars while Biden has been unwilling to do so. Speaking of ending wars, feels like Biden squandered an opportunity to position the administration as anti war after pulling us out of Afghanistan which I give him a lot of credit for. The faux right wing outrage over how the withdrawal wen't was so nauseating, anyone with half a brain could have told you the afghan army would have collapsed.
