Taiwan is great. Wish I was able to spend more time there.
All hail British imperialism.
I've also been to the mainland. You know whats cool about Taiwan? No one told me to put my camera away, the hotel didn't have nightly passport and room checks from the police and the internet wasn't filtered.

I think the point sami and many other posters in this thread (time and time again) have tried to highlight is that there's a very real inability for some of you to grasp that the shortcomings of communist nations more times than not have very little to do with Marxism or Socialism as a concept and moreso to do with how these countries have operated historically for centuries. And simultaneously you somehow magically divorce the very real innate and inherent problems with Capitalism, Imperialsim and yes Fascism either due to convenience, ignorance or years of propaganda that has clearly worked very well.
"The West" has pleeeenty of blood on its hands yet you rarely seem to want to discuss that.

This whole thread is about bashing western imperialist governments. Also if Chinas shortcomings has little to do with marxism, then why do board marxist jump in at the slightest critique of them? Every. Time.

But the thing you don't (or can't?) do seems to be to seperate the populations of China, Syria, Botswana from criticisms of their governmetnal leaders [see Sami's article above], but you do it anytime for European countries...

I'm so confused and lost. Like I've said before, the left can be so delusional that just straight up attacks other factions of the leftist just because. Literally no other reason.

Every. Time. My guess would be because the majority of the time, these critiques are sensationalized, exaggerated or downright false and almost always a tool used in an attempt to discredit leftist politics. If a commie revolution were to come to the US, it wouldn't look like China or USSR or Cuba etc etc, t'd be something else. Just look at Chile for example.

My gal Nina Totenberg said on the radio this morning that Trump will have time to make the necessary arguments to repeal DACA if re-elected, but likely won't be able to put it together by January if he loses.

Do you mean an ESTA? In the PRC you need to do something similar and still register with the local authorities.

That being said, I have never criticized the Chinese people. I love China. I love Vietnam, I think the people there are amongst the nicest I have ever met. I've never been to Iran but would love to visit one day. That being said, none of these countries or populations are a monolith. That protest in Syria looks more like a pro-Assad rally and if you were really concerned about the Syrian people and sanctions you would also care about the people that Assad has butchered.
