6 people got shot yesterday in Richmond during a robbery at a cafe. I’m not saying that to be an asshole, I’m just curious what the media’s criteria is in order for it to get this sort of immediate national attention.

When the shooting is a means to an end like a robbery, that tends to get less attention. When the shooting is an end in itself, it's a bigger story since the person just wanted to kill people. |

I just had a weird moment thinking about how we could all see a person's last moments on a video game streaming site of all places. Sign of the times.

That in part and also in part because this was streamed live on twitch so social media instantly blew up and it gained its own head of steam. However, the shooting of 6 at the Richmond Robbery being a non-event tells you how fucked we are as a society. If 6 people got shot during a robbery in the uk, thats NATIONAL front page news for a week. |
