As a foreigner observing from abroad, im kind of speechless and cant comprehend that you all have to deal with this on such a frequency, furthermore the frustrations of no collective action be undertaken time and time again. the people need to bust out the guillotine for anything meaningful to happen, apparently. would be litty to see it happen in my lifetime. |

This is what they've taught in every active shooter training I've attended for work in the past 3-4 years. It always does come off a little bleak. The fact you have to receive ‘active shooter training’ is mind boggling to me. You don’t need another foreigner saying it but how the fuck does this still happen? Menstrual Munchies weren't even booked with grindcore bands in Dayton because almost nobody in the scene can stand pornogrind. The grindcore scene in Dayton is politically progressive and doesn't tolerate misogyny. There are shows where half or more of the crowd are women. In fact, there are six or more grind bands between Dayton, Lima, and Cincinnati with women in them. And they're all very outspoken about misogyny. The fact that the local grindcore (and even metal) scene is being blamed for this because of a guy in a band that wasn't even a part of it is extremely frustrating. It's like the "Trenchcoat Mafia" in Columbine all over again. Twen'ty years later, nothing's gotten any better.

They released video footage of the Ohio shooter getting taken out by the cops. Holy shit he was literally 2 steps from getting into the crowded bar that everyone ran into to escape him. I've mentioned in the blue collar thread about how I work with a bunch of guys that to all outward appearances look like obstinate, 60 year old, thick-necked Trump supporters, but are actually liberals for some reason.
Today I wen't in and two of my coworkers (both wearing Nascar hats and sunglasses indoors) were having a loud, red-faced argument about which was to blame for the El Paso shooting: Trump plus poor gun control, or Trump exclusively.
Mind-bending stuff, and a much-needed moment of levity for me.

Reading accounts of people who knew him, he sounded fucked up for a while. Ex-meth addict, loved guns, talked about using guns in crimes, made hit lists, etc. But also heard he was mad his sister was dating a black man, which is why he killed her and him, and mostly all black bystanders. But, that doesnt go along with reports of his political ideas.
I'm going with he was just a fucked up dude.
