I see alot of white people bring up violence in black communities to divert from white muchachos and mass shootings. I really dont think it's a cool game to have the two in separate categories. Its still gun violence, and when grouped together, the death toll is goddamn insane. I completely agree. The motives are different, but you could make the argument that the origin of seeing it as an option at all are closer than people think. Another branch of the family tree is how people were sleeping peacefully while drones roam the Middle East and the entity that would be enforcing desired gun control is also vicariously supporting a genocide in Yemen. Thousands of brown/black people: I sleep 10 people at a mall: AGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! How do we fix this?!?!? IMO, the lack of empathy or outrage from outside of the community (read: white people) comes down to the way it's been talked about and reported on historically. "Oh, they're just drug dealers killing one another" vs "Innocent bystanders killed at the [mall]"

In a sense, all this violence is sort of a taste of what we've been dishing out to other countries for decades. I'm not saying we the people "deserve" it, but Ive said it before, there's a correlation between decades of us being obsessed with war, and mass shootings. US vs. them, shock and awe, killing anything that stands in the way of freedom, violence as a means of accomplishing your goal, etc.

No one deserves that. Itβs all completely wrong. I just want to be consistent and Iβm not going to pretend I have a solution.

Anybody who's actually against gun violence should be bothered by any amount of senseless murder that adds to the overall death toll. Period. I donβt think most Americans actually give a shit about violence. Donβt be logical or consistent, it will get you nowhere with the libs. I fucking hate these mass shootings. Itβs sad, disgusting, degenerate trash. But also completely predictable, and really, a small blip on the radar when actually put into context. Mass shooters still donβt have shit on the police or US military. We also hardly cover urban gun violence because, like this thread has shown, black people gun crimes is just βhood shit.β You can try to spin it whatever way you want but it seems self evident that people only acknowledge violence when those who share their skin color/class interest are being killed. Oddly enough, rather than white Americans being killed by outside entities who hail from βviolent and unstable shitholes,β itβs other white Americans doing the killing. So much to chew on here. White-on-white crime? ghhhhhhmmmmmm... :pondering emoji:

Even complete with an unironic "THANKS OBAMA" clearly you forgot about his repeated attacks on law enforcement. 'drag queen advocates' is a deep cut that I was truly not expecting, respect.

I know you're kidding but it wasn't private when she posted it, but it looks like she locked down her entire FB. I wonder if the two things are related.

the only way to curb this shit is if the current generation of parents raise their kids to not be inept brats drowning in disassociation.

It is just beyond bizarre for me that a section of this country has no idea how privacy, accountability and the first amendment work. It's constantly baffling. I kinda feel like one of the most damaging side effects of social media is that it's made it abundantly clear the vast majority of the human population is fucking dumb and unrespectable.

It used to be if you were stupid, you'd figure it out through real-life interaction.

I didn't know what an "NPC" (Non-Playable Character) was but saw it popping up on the shitty side of the web. Basically see the majority of people as soulless nobodies. They have their enemies but that's a weird way to look at society. People talk a bunch of shit online, that is fueled by the medium itself allowing individuals some anonymity and distance while depersonalizing everyone.
I don't think it's a stretch these kids don't have any remorse or second thoughts when they go out and kill a bunch of "NPCs". The fellow travelers discuss it in these terms.
There is enough research and literature out there that the internet fucks up your brain and all of these shooters are extremely online.

Admission: I play Magic the Gathering occasionally and this phrase has been used for a few years now to describe players one doesn't regard very highly. Which is pretty rich. I practically wear Groucho glasses when I go out to play. Everybody wants to be somebody relative to/at the expense of somebody else.

I've come away with the impression that yes, a few will have life beat it into them but for the most part people can build a support network that will allow them to never have to seriously assess their capabilities or qualities. Whether it's looks, money, being too nice or too dense, finding a like minded group, what ever. But I don't think the internet/social media has really changed this. Made it easier, sure but not fundamentally changed it. What it has changed is that now everyone has the ability to scream whatever comes to mind into the void and see if it echoes and most people seem to be hellbent and unrepentant about letting the universe know they're either terrible or not bright, all on their own volition.

Ohio really isn't that bad, minus the fact we are a swing state and have no ocean. We have a lot of major cities, good museums, nice trails, sports teams, and we get some good shows. As far as Midwest states go, it really isn't that bad.
