Ohio really isn't that bad, minus the fact we are a swing state and have no ocean. We have a lot of major cities, good museums, nice trails, sports teams, and we get some good shows. As far as Midwest states go, it really isn't that bad. Yeah but: -Cleveland Indians-The people that inhabit the state. haha they did get rid of Chief Wahoo on their uniforms. Only took them half a century. Truthfully, the only Ohio team I like is the Columbus Crew. The people in the cities are cool. It's when you go rural shit gets weird.

Try answering the question “am I going to die?” that a grade schooler asks you when your school is on lockdown because a shooting happened in the neighborhood the school was in. One of my bleaker moments as a teacher. Man I wrote and re-wrote this post so many times to the point I’m in tears. I don’t want to get personal or detailed but the gist is that I can’t imagine the world my kids are going to have to deal with in just a few short years. Lockdown drills, explaining mass shootings... they’re just so innocent and they don’t deserve this. My wife is a teacher and I already worry about her. Sorry for the tangent. It’s just a really sad time and I felt like sharing. no need to apologize, shit is fucked. |

You live in one of the most tolerable cities, though. Cincinnati is excruciating a lot of the time. People are so unfriendly. I have to go to a bar (and one specific one at that) to find any community and I'm fucking straightedge. There are indeed some good things about the city, but the people and weather are awful. Totally co-sighned on the rural areas. Southwestern Ohio outside of Cincy and Dayton are absolutely terrifying... |
