Actually he said he was active duty military, that he was stopped by cops, flashed them his ccw and was told to carry on getting the fuck out of dodge.
Which worked out for him in this situation, but it made me think that any active shooter in TX liikely has the same license-to-carry that he could have flashed.
I guess we'll keep ignoring the gun violence stats until we realize arbitrary gun licences for all, because 2nd amendment, is antiquated legislation.
We'll keep pretending this isnt literally happening on a weekly basis.
Or not. Then your kids die in a shooting. Then you think differently.

Thats muchacho filming above almost got hit. You can hear the snap of a round right next to him. And yeah, there were alot of shots going off at once, almost like two weapons at once, or multiple people. *edit, I just read that cops killed the dude in about a minute after he opened fire. Thats the other shots we hear.
El Paso, AK-47. Dayton was a .223 type...possibly an AR. Two more examples of why these weapons must be more regulated. I dont care about any delusion of fighting some bullshit nazi uprising, or a communist uprising, or what the hell ever. Why fear the future, when hell is already here?

I can't stand it when people say things have always been this bad or it's actually great right now. There's a really shitty veneer of stability because of mass readily available escapism but it's very very thin. Underneath that, I can see a society without hope or any collective purpose in the future so it's either live out your life in your little niche fun world to avoid the despair or succumb to it. The more subtle ways like addiction, suicide, etc. are on the rise and the severity and frequency of individuals to inflict senseless violence out into the world is without a doubt rising.
I feel like we're accelerating into a very dark place as this culture ramps up the high speed alienation machine.
Was talking about this the other day after hearing about this recent shooting and asked if I was being paranoid because I prefer aisle seats and know all the exits when I'm at a venue. Almost everyone else said they do the same thing... That is insane to me. That subtle passing anxiety of acknowledging you can be gunned down at a movie theater or whatever compounds with so much else in daily life.
The worst part is, it feels as if there's not a damn thing we can do about it...

There were people posting on a couple friends' facebook threads claiming that they were ten feet from the guy when he was shooting. Not sure if that's accurate, but if so, it makes me wonder what the hell the guy's motivation was. I haven't checked any articles in a few hours to see if there's some manifesto or whatever and dude is dead. |

The guy had an insane amount of magazines on him. Supposedly coulda killed a hundred people with it. One woman was shot by him 12x and she somehow survived. It took three cops to take him down, which is remarkable considering how trigger-happy they're known to be here. I work at a pretty popular and busy bar/restaurant. Some of my coworkers and I are always talking about what to do in case of a mass shooting. I was just talking to one before the garlic fest shooting last week, telling him we were due for a string. Then bam. I mentioned it to him today, and our minds were blown. We both agreed that this shit is the number one source of paranoia at work. I feel its the same story for anyone who works at a busy public gathering. Or any public gathering.

I work in a nursing home and we’ve been having active shooter drills and educations lately. If that’s not absurd and depressing enough as it is, there’s been two instances (maybe more I don’t know of) of shootings in that setting within an hour of me in the past year or so now, including one just the other week.

For the first time yesterday I actually thought “shit Long Island is definitely gonna experience as mass shooting eventually”.
I’m still of the apinion that gun control isn’t the answer, but it’s a component. Unless we actively try to solve the social ills at the root cause of this unrest, this stuff will keep happening. It’ll happen with cars, or bombs, knives etc. there are just too many guns already, and while it might prevent a future shooter from acquiring one, I can’t help but feel like it’s a massive political fight that equates to putting out a fire by blowing on it. The effort would be better spent trying to attack the problem from a different angle.
Hope you Ohio people don’t know anyone effected. What a shitty fucking world we live in.
