This week started off with the debut LP from Elvis. Nostalgic, but pretty lackluster following Little Richard last week.
Next was Led Zeppelin I. I do love this album despite the hate they seem to get now. Just a bunch of British kids who worship American blues at this point.
Today was a French album and artist I've never heard of, Serge Gainsbourg – Histoire De Melody Nelson. Holy shit was this terrible. First, it's a concept album about a guy who hits a 15 year old girl with his car and proceeds to seduce her. Second, it's "pseudo-autobiographical"! So, right off the bat... Eww. Music is interesting at times, but it is PERMEATED by a Frenchman, whisper talking so loud that it drowns everything out at times. Like you can HEAR his breathing and lip smacking and it's fucking nauseating.
Just started up some of Little Richard's gospel era hoping it will be the audio equivalent of a drippini

Did everybody give up on this? I feel like I'm talking to myself. Really good run here since last check in:
Janis Joplin - Pearl. Liked it, but didn't love it Rush - Moving Pictures. I love this shit, idk what anyone else thinks Elvis Costello and the Attractions - Last Year's Model. Fucking perfect album Miriam Makeba - Self Titled. Never heard this before but it was beautiful and blew me away Beastie Boys - License to Ill. Do I even need to explain my love for this album? T. rex - Electric Warrior - About to listen after a work meeting A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory. One of my favorite early '90s hip-hop albums

Mines been kinda hit or miss. Had a U2 album yesterday (easy 1 star), the Smiths Meat is Murder (have never liked the smiths, 1 star), and Keith Jarrett “the Köln Conert” which was very relaxing and great to read to.
Highlights since last posting in here have been GZA- Liquid Swords The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill Teenage Fanclub- Bandwagonesque.
Today is the Killers- Hot Fuss. Mr. Brightside is a certified banger, but I really don’t know anything else so we’ll see how this goes.

Didn’t know there’s been updates to the list since the 2005 book, but I guess it makes sense. Got another U2 album yesterday (trash. 1 star) and a Kacey Musgraves album from 2018. Not exactly looking forward to it, but I’ll give it a shot.

Didn’t know there’s been updates to the list since the 2005 book Was kinda looking forward to NOT having to deal with anything later than 2000ish... oh well. Since last update: Carole King - Tapestry. Liked this a lot more than I expected to Belle and Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister. Snoozer. Sounds like the soundtrack to a TV montage Talk Talk - The Color of Spring. Another snoozer. A bunch of '80s pop-tropes thrown together that many other artists have done far better Fishbone - Truth and Soul. Loved this when I was 14, but haven't heard it since. Not sure how it will translate to my adult palette Edit: Fishbone is TERRIBLE

Kacey Musgraves was fine. Better than I anticipated, but just not my sort of thing.
Today is Franz Ferdinand s/t. Takes me right back to Madden 05 anytime I hear Take Me Out.

Got Ministry - Psalm 69 today, which is a vast improvement over yesterday's Doves - The Last Broadcast AKA music for folks who think Snow Patrol rocks too hard

Been a rough run since my last check in:
Harry Nilsson - Nilsson Schmilsson. I can't let this one just sit at "it's not for me". This sucked George Michale - Faith. Hated this in 1987, still hate this Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmielou Harris - Trio. Maybe it's good if you like country... I do NOT
Today is The Specials self titled debut, so I feel like it's a reprieve. While I'm not a huge ska fan, there is a good reason The Specials helped relaunch the second wave. Solid stuff

Recently: Derek and the Dominoes- fuuuuuck Clapton. The Cure- Pornography. This shit SUCKS. The Cure has always been whatever to me, but this was a slog.
Today is Elvis Costello- Imperial Bedroom. Just a few tracks in, giving me Beatles-esque vibes (god I fucking hate using the word vibes)

No. Early In the Morning; sort of a weird minimalist piece. Just a reverb drenched organ and his vocal. I recognized Without You but it’s not my jam

Since last update:
The Police - Reggatta De Blanc. Shamelessly love this band and album Pink Floyd - The Wall. Loved this as a kid, haven't heard in 30 years. Kind of boring as an adult. Wish it was a single album Prince and the Revolution - Purple Rain. I hate pop music, but this rules Yes - The Yes Album. Prog is hit or miss for me but I love Yes (and Styx) David Bowie - Station To Station. Don't know a lot of Bowie too well. I liked this a lot And today is Miles Davis - Birth of the Cool. Fucking hell yeah!
