It has been so stressful!! Moving with an 11mo old is insane, I never imagined it would be this hard. I moved with a 5 mo old, it nearly killed me and my marriage.

Reading about the market on the coasts makes me feel pretty good about living in decidedly uncool Wisconsin. Bought my duplex 7 years ago for 93k. Foreclosure. Updated the downstairs this winter (floors, paint, light fixtures), raised rent, got a new tenant for April 15 and that will now nearly pay the entire mortgage. Would’ve covered it but taxes wen't up. Actually The prop tax is more than my principal believe it or not.

Anyone refinance since the interest rates have dropped? Meeting next week with the bank to go over everything. Should drop my mortgage by a decent chunk.

We're in the middle of refinancing, should be done by the end of the month. It'll drop our mortgage by $300 so I'll be paying less for my house than my last 2 apartments in the city.

We bought a house in Los Angeles in February, and just moved in a few weeks ago after renovating the shit out of it - we gutted 3 bathrooms, the laundry room, and the floors, and then partially renovated the kitchen (we didn't do the cabinets, but did everything else). It has been so stressful!! Moving with an 11mo old is insane, I never imagined it would be this hard. The work wasn't done when we moved in, so we had multiple crews of contractors in here all day for the first week (luckily now its just one or two more things that need to be finished). Here are some pics (I don't know how to make them bigger, so you have to click on them to see - though the quality is still a shit sandwich); we haven't set anything up yet really, but you get the general idea. Now that we are in, we can start the journey of doing our own projects -- so much still left to do! View AttachmentView AttachmentLooks amazing! You're giving me hope for our reno projects.

Anyone refinance since the interest rates have dropped? Meeting next week with the bank to go over everything. Should drop my mortgage by a decent chunk. Forget your bank, go through Rocketmortgage. We just refi'd with them (4.0% down to 2.85%) and it was the easiest, most seamless process you can possibly imagine. Start-to-finish it was less than a month, the woman we worked with was accessible, knowledgeable and friendly (can give you her contact if you want) and for the closing they came right to our house and it took less than 15 minutes. And if you look at reviews for mortgage companies for refis, our experience seems par for the course and not an outlier.

In hindsight, we probably could have gotten a lower rate if we had shopped around. Our neighbor works with Caliber Mortgage and did others in the neighborhood so we jumped on that bandwagon. After we closed we heard from other people about these crazy rates from online companies. Win some you lose some... We just refinanced bought at 3.3% and just refinanced at 2.5% and keep getting mail to lower again.

We did everything with RocketMortgage and it was so easy and then our realtor strong armed us into switching to their ‘preferred’ and at that point we were just like... whatthefuckever.

My dogs will ruin them at some point anyway, so no reason to spend that much.

I "fixed" a section of my gutter today because it was dumb and flooding a part of my back yard and thank god it was on the back of the house because it looks like shit but my backyard should no longer be a swamp.

Knocked down the temporary kitchen we had set up in our dining room while our real kitchen was getting completely redone. I can’t believe the feeling I’ve got from putting our old refrigerator in the garage. Having a fridge out there is a new plateau I never knew I could reach.

Had to wrangle a bat out of our bedroom once, I wish my wife had video. 250 lb man with no pants on trying to get a tiny ass bat to go out our window.

I want to get a Ruggable for our living room and need the biggest size, which is $600. I've looked at it a few times, but thanks to Google, it's in an ad on every website I visit. I want to look up what it is but now I’m afraid.

Mrs. Escaped bought a ruggable. It kind sucks. The two parts aren't the same size so there's always a weird ridge on one or two edges. it seems to get ripples throughout it very easily; only way to remove them is to separate the two pieces again, realign, and smooth it out. The surface is still something that the dog cannot fully grip and he slides across it much like a hardwood floor. Can't vacuum it with the Dyson because the under matte thing creates a seal and stops the vacuum.
Basically, a lot of small reasons I don't like it that all add up to it probably being much cheaper and more efficient to buy a standard rug.

I pretty much need wall-to-wall shag for this dog. We've got rugs tossed all over, but in 5 months he's still been able to completely destroy the finish on our hardwood floors throughout the living area.
